About

Created From Nature.

I've been able to sew and knit since I was very little, before I was old enough to go to school. When my children were small I made a lot of their clothes and always looked forward to making costumes for school plays. Finding a suitable pattern always seemed to be an issue and invariably I ended up making my own, which gave me the idea of turning them into pdf's and selling them.

More recently I have been sewing clothes for myself and I have started making quilts which I really love doing as I have so many ideas. I just love the modern style quilts for babies which ignore all the old rules of quilting! They can be as creative and colourful as I choose. Unfortunately I don't have anyone to make them for which is why I opened Bramble Patch Designs.

Being a member of the Cornwall Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers gives me access to so much information and inspiration which the lovely members are always so keen to share. I love spending an evening spinning yarn on my Majacraft Aura or hand painting and kettle dyeing uninspiring yarn into a myriad of gorgeous, bright jewel colours, or pretty delicate pastels. Creating felt artwork is really hard work but I still find it just amazing what can be achieved with just a few pieces of dyed sheep fleece and some embroidery silks!

Another of my creative outlets is making jewellery. I love working with silver, copper and gemstones. Unfortunately I have more designs in my sketchbook than I know what to do with, so this shop allows me to make them all without the guilt!

I only use natural materials and try to use local suppliers and re-cycled packaging.

Welcome to Bramble Patch Designs.

All the quilts and felt art in my shop are handmade by me in Cornwall using natural materials. I spin the 'Bramble Patch handspun' yarns on my Majacraft Aura and the 'Bramble Patch hand dyed' yarns and tops are kettle dyed and hand painted in my kitchen. I craft my jewellery from silver, copper and semi-precious stones. I also make PDF sewing and knitting patterns.

I hope you enjoy browsing.
