Independent-minded hand dyer from the English heartland

Hi there! I'm Frances, I create hand dyed yarn from my workshop in deepest Leicestershire. I have a background in art, and was getting frustrated with some of the limited colours in hand dyed yarn, so I started dyeing my own. With some knowledge of colour, and a lot of impatient experiments, I've built up my own palette and ways of dyeing. I try not to follow trends, but instead produce something beautiful, something useful and good to knit with, and something that excites the eye.

I use primarily sock weight yarns, concentrating on blends that are fit for purpose and hold colour well. If you're going to spend hours knitting a sock, you don't want the heel to dissapear in one wear! I'm a knitter myself, so everything I do is tested, usually on my own feet...

I also produce a few hand knitted items, usually lace. I grew up in Nottingham, which has an old established Lace Market, and I'm proud I can carry on the tradition of lace knitting in my region.

Returns and exchanges
If you do want to return a item, please contact me first. We may be able to sort it out together. However, if there is no option but to return the item/s I will refund you by the method of payment in which you paid me, once I have received the items back in the condition in which I sent them. Shipping costs will not be refunded.
Please pay as soon as you can; if you’re having any trouble with paying, pricing, shipping, or anything else, just drop me a line and I’ll be happy to help.

If it's been a few days from the purchase date and I've not yet received a payment then I'll contact you to make sure everything is all right. If , by three days after that contact attempt I don’t receive a message, I will cancel the purchase and relist the item.
For large items, if you would like tracked or a special delivery please contact me before the purchase for a quote – I’m sure we can arrange something that will suit!
Additional policies and FAQs
I'm afraid I don't routinely do custom orders due to high demands on my time from regular dyeing, and the difficulty of reproducing exact skeins or colours.
