Frequently asked questions

Additional details about our no returns or exchanges policy

Due to the intimate nature of perfume oils and beard oils, CanyonCreekBotanical doesn't do refunds, returns, or exchanges because of health and hygiene reasons.

What is the difference between a natural fragrance and a synthetic fragrance?

Plants, fruits, trees, and resins comprise the basic elements of our natural scents. Synthetic fragrances are created in a laboratory, and although it may not be common knowledge, Mother Nature has absolutely nothing to do with almost two-third’s of the most popular fragrances made today that are used in perfumes and other scented products.

Natural fragrances are often perceived to be safer, more healthful and therapeutic.

Why doesn't my natural perfume oil last all day?

Synthetic perfumes use synthetic fixatives which stabilize a scent and help to release a scent slowly over a period of time. Synthetic fixatives render a synthetic fragrance richer/denser than any natural aroma could ever hope to be. Those who enjoy natural fragrances simply apply their fragrances more often through the day.

The typical longevity of a natural perfume is 4-8 hours. Longevity can be affected by skin chemistry. For example, one person's skin chemistry can interact with a certain perfume in such a way that the natural perfume lasts 8 hours whereas another person wearing the same natural perfume might get much less longevity. Sweat, dry skin or hot weather can cause natural perfume to disappear from the skin faster as well.

What are the dangers of wearing a synthetic fragrance?

A 1986 report by the National Academy of Sciences noted that 95 percent of chemicals used in synthetic fragrances are derived from petroleum (yep, crude oil) and include benzene derivatives (carcinogenic), aldehydes, toluene, and many other known toxic chemicals linked to cancer, birth defects, central nervous system disorders and allergic reactions. A 2001 study by the environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found that synthetic fragrances were often shown to contain hormone disruptors linked to abnormal cell reproduction.
