About the shop and it's owner

I am as mom and pop of an operation as they come. I don't mass produce my carvings. I carve one of a kind carvings, each one unique in their own way. I have never tried to duplicate a carving and really wouldn't want to. Where's the fun in that. I can do one in a similar theme to a previous carving but that’s about it.

As for my style of carving how about I tell you what style I am not. I am not an artsy fartsy kind of guy and you won't find that kind of stuff here. No deep thinkers here, just (for lack of better words) a cartoonist turned carver. I try to carve like I draw: fun, light hearted characters that hopefully bring a smile to your face or anyone else you may share them with. It’s as simple as that.

As for how I work. I carve in our living room, next to my old roll top desk. I don’t have a fancy shop (not that I wouldn’t love one, maybe) but here I can carve a bit and get feedback from either of my two boys or my wife, who, God love her, supports me dropping wood chips in our living room in spite of my carving apron. I swear it has a hole somewhere; I can’t be that bad of a shot. Why someone would put up with this is beyond me, but I am blessed and love her for that. As my wife has often said, compared to the dog and cat hair, wood chips are the least of our worries. Yeah we threw in some animals just to mix it up a bit.

So that is my story and I am stickin’ to it, I have no complaints, life is good. Thanks for stopping by and as Red Skelton would say at the end of each show,

Good night and may God bless

Cartoons2carvings is exactly that, my efforts to grow as a carver and begin the process of turning all my cartoons into carvings. I am a husband, father and stay home dad and I hope to help out my family utilizing the talents God has given me.

My first passion was and is drawing or should I say cartooning. As a child I spent most Sunday mornings drawing the comics that caught my eye. Years later while puttering around in the back yard I picked up a stick pulled out my jack knife and a new passion was born. My early carvings were more of a Scandinavian style, and then for a short period I tried my hand at ducks. One day I saw a caricature carving in a carving magazine, and I thought wow if I could turn my cartoons into carvings, what fun. On April 24th 2012 I began the journey of pursuing the concept of doing just that.

As a stay home dad I do this for the enjoyment of carving and for a chance to help support our family in my small way. I will do everything I can to make the purchase of my carvings enjoyable, before during and after it arrives to your home. I am ever thankful for the gifts God has given me and more importantly the family that supports me in this endeavor.

Every carving is unique and hand carved. I can carve a similar carving to a previous one but no two carvings will ever look alike, I would never want them to.

You can follow my journey at; www.cartoons2carvings.blogspot.com as I continue to grow as a carver.

If you have a question please don't hesitate to contact me. I will do my best to get back with you in a timely fashion and I might even have the answer you seek.
