About CinnabarPink

I am so happy to share my hand-dyed yarn with you!

Hi, I'm Lynda, the dyer behind Cinnabar Pink. I rediscovered my love of knitting a few years ago and, once I found the wonderful world of hand-dyed yarn, there was no looking back. After dyeing yarn for my own knitting projects for a couple of years I decided to open my Etsy shop. The name Cinnabar Pink comes from my days as a History of Art student. I was writing an essay on portraiture and was struggling to describe the particular shade of a sitter's dusky pink gown. That shade was cinnabar, and the name has stuck with me ever since!

I absolutely love creating new colourways, and seem particularly drawn to dyeing tonal self-striping yarn. Inspiration strikes from so many places, often I see colour combinations in nature or in a work of art that I recreate in watercolour on paper before translating into dye and yarn. I never use my dyes as they come. For me the creativity, originality, and enjoyment comes from mixing the different colours, and working out the intensity of colour I need before dipping the bare yarn in the pot! To see the finished yarn knitted up is so satisfying, particularly with self-striping yarn (which knits itself really). I plan to develop a range of semi-solid and variegated yarns soon and cannot wait to share these.

I am so delighted to begin sharing some of my yarn with you. Follow me over on Instagram for shop update news, lots of knitting, and of course hand-dyed yarny adventures! Lynda x

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalised orders

I am happy to dye a custom order for you on request. I typically need around 10 days to create this as unfortunately dyeing yarn is not my day job! Send me a convo and let me know what you would like :0)

Is your merino yarn mulesing free?

Yes, my yarn suppliers do not stock yarn from producers who practice mulesing.
