About ClaireWheatDesigns

Sales 2,858
On Etsy since 2013

Hi! Welcome to my shop!

Claire Wheat Designs was born in 2012 after I found time to develop some of the many original design ideas that had been floating around in my head for simply ages. I had enjoyed a long career in business and then spent a fabulous few years being creative at college. What a treat! Here I not only learned new things all the time and gained qualifications, but I also became part of an amazing creative community.

I have always made things, learning to knit and sew with my Granny and my Mum and then making my own clothes all through my teenage years. But they were always to a predefined pattern. I went on to study science and that's when I got a bit addicted to experimentation! And to reusing as much of what is around me as possible.

Fast forward quite a lot of years and here I am. I make unusual and sometimes quite quirky gifts that you won't find anywhere else, like my unique concertina style journals from vintage maps, retro card games, postcards, theatre programmes and the like. And I also make bunting from old preloved books.

But I don't just work with paper. I make my own range of fabric accessories for handbags, pockets and travel – again using my own original designs and high quality materials. And I make fabric book covers, including many which are one of a kind using my own hand dyed or hand printed materials and often with added embroidery.

And everything is sourced from here in the UK.

Alongside my business as Claire Wheat Designs I really enjoy developing my textile and mixed media art. I've been involved in a number of exhibitions and submitted my work in several competitions.

Thank you so much for visiting my shop in which everything has been carefully made by me
and I hope you love what you see.

Frequently asked questions

Shipping times

I use Royal Mail to ship all my items. In the UK this means standard second class and for all other areas it means international standard airmail class. This is not a tracked service but you can choose to upgrade to tracking at an additional cost at checkout

In the UK, items usually take between 3 and 5 working days to arrive but please allow up to 10 business days for delivery.

If you are an international customer, you can expect your item to arrive 5 to 10 working days after I have despatched it. But please allow up to 25 business days for delivery - this is the timescale the Royal Mail allows before considering an item lost.

But in any event, if you are concerned that your item has not yet arrived please contact me.

Customs and Import Taxes

Please note that local charges (sales tax, customs duty) may occur and, depending on your region, local customs duties.

***These charges are at the customers own expense.***

Please consult documentation in your home country/region to see if it applies to you.

Customs paperwork is completed by me with a true sales value and items are always correctly identified and not marked as a gift. I always use the HS tariff code (commodity code) so please ask me for this if you want to check with your local authority, whether there will be any additional charges to pay .

If you change your mind.

Please contact me before returning any item(s).

My standard cancellation period prior to dispatch is 12 hours as after this time I would have expected to have started preparing your order.

However, in line with regulations you have a right to cancel your order at any stage from the point of order until 14 days after you receive the item.

The item must be returned to me in its original condition and at your own expense. You must write RETURN on the envelope. When received I will refund the full cost of the item and the outward shipping costs, (but not the costs to return it to me). I reserve the right to deduct from the refund any loss in value resulting from wear and use.

Item deemed faulty or unfit for purpose

I take great care when I make and package my items but please contact me as soon as possible if you are unhappy with your purchase or if it has been damaged in transit. Please retain all damaged packaging and photographic evidence until I have agreed the next step.

I may request photographs of the packaging and the item and/or request for items and packaging to be returned to me at my cost. I ask for this because, without evidence I can't make a claim with the postal service for my loss.

I will be happy to refund or replace faulty or damaged items within 30 days of delivery.

General note on the nature of my products

All the items I sell are handmade by me. Many are upcycled from previously used items and these may show some signs of wear. Everything I use is sourced from here in the UK.

In some of my listings I explain that the item you will receive may have different illustrations (in the case of my paper bunting) or different pattern placement (in the case of my accessories). Please read the descriptions carefully.

If you are buying a case for a phone or other piece of electronic equipment, please check the dimensions before buying.

I will never send an item out which does not meet my high standards but please get in contact with me if you have any questions.
