It's a yarn thing....

Hello and thank you for visiting!

I'm Lil, the owner of Country Mouse Yarns which is a cottage industry business run from my home studio in Dorset alongside caring for three young children. I joined the infamous Winwick Mum Sockalong when it first started and quickly became hooked on knitting socks, and grew steadily fascinated by all the wonderful yarns available. I woke up one morning and just knew I had to have a go at hand dyeing yarn. I completely fell in love with it as every skein was like working on a painting to me. Country Mouse Yarns was born soon afterwards.

I love my family, walking my dogs, feeding and nurturing wild birds, nature in all its glory, and walking amongst it. I've a passion for wildlife and have the privilege of hand feeding garden birds, which takes time and patience, but the rewards are incredible.

You can find me on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. I'd love to see you there!

Frequently asked questions
Care instructions

My yarns can be machine washed on a wool cycle. I prefer hand washing as it prolongs the life of the item though many handmade items are comfortable on a gentle 30 degree cycle. It's your choice, but bear in mind if you've worked hard to create an item it's not worth risking it. Never tumble dry wool products....you will be faced with shrunken and / or felted items.

How long do you take to ship items?

I post items within 24 hours as a rule. I know what it's like to order squishy yarn parcels and nobody wants to wait...so I get to the post office asap.

How do you ship items?

Either by Royal Mail in the UK, or Airmail if abroad. I obtain receipts. If you want an item tracked please discuss this with me before purchase.

What's your return policy?

If you feel an item isn't what you wanted upon arrival, it needs to be returned within 14 days exactly as dispatched I.e. Still in a skein, unused. Return shipping costs are the buyer's responsibility.

Gift wrapping and packaging

My items are gift wrapped as a matter of course.

Sizing details

My skeins are 100g unless otherwise stated.
