Announcement   Hello and welcome to The Crimson Rabbit's Burrow! You can find a selection of the things I make in this shop. Many of the pieces here are made to order and the shipping time is a 'worse case scenario' estimate - I will often make and ship items quicker than indicated, although things do sometimes slow down at busy times. If you're want something urgently, just convo me and I'll confirm if I can meet your deadline.

Everything I send out is wrapped in acid free tissue paper as standard, but I also I offer a full gift wrap service. The wrap and method I use differs according to the item and the recipient, but I use lovely quality classic papers with washi tapes, satin ribbons, gift tags and / or cards. You can see examples of my gift wrapping here: https://www.pinterest.co.uk/crimsonrabbit/crimson-rabbit-wrap/ and if you want a certain 'look' to your gift, just let me know when ordering and I'll do my best to deliver.

My blog is here: www.thecrimsonrabbit.co.uk, my instagram page here: https://www.instagram.com/the_crimson_rabbit/, my facebook page here: www.facebook.com/thecrimsonrabbitpage and my Pinterest addiction is evidenced here: http://www.pinterest.com/crimsonrabbit/

About

creating knit and stitch fripperies for you and those you love

The crimson rabbit is my artisan alter-ego. She is a rabbit because my mind loves to hop about from one creative project idea to another, and she’s crimson because she likes to be special – red would be a tad dowdy for an alter-ego; even one that doesn’t wear their pants on top of their trousers (which she would if she wore trousers at all but, being a rabbit, she doesn’t…).

I've always made 'things' with fabric, thread and yarn, but had very limited time to indulge in making while building my career. Whilst studying for an Open University degree alongside my full time job between 1999 and 2005, I rediscovered my love of crochet, as I found that making something helped me to concentrate, while listening to study recordings. It also helped me to stop smoking in 2005!

Once I'd completed my studies, I found that the organisation and self discipline I'd developed for myself over the 6 years of part time study not only enhanced my performance at work and helped me progress my career, but it also meant that I had some wriggle room in my schedule outside work.

I quickly substituted the study time with creative time and made a dive into developing my rediscovered crochet, knit and stitching skills. I familisarised myself not only with new techniques, but also with all the beautiful materials available to buy - and boy did I buy! I started making gifts for family and friends and was frequently told that I should be making these things to sell. At first I thought people were just being nice, but when I heard these kinds of comments enough times, I started to imagine how fabulous it would be to do that!

After working in the financial services sector for 30 years, when an opportunity to take voluntary redundancy arose in December 2012, I jumped at it! I decided to give myself a year to see whether I could make my dreams come true and build my own business from my own creativity.

I spent the first part of 2013 developing and refining a collection of products, my processes, and learning about the hand made market place. Sometimes it all felt incredibly frustrating and slow, but I knew that it was important to have a sound base to build from. Fortunately, I have a lot of hands on operational, general business and project management experience, which helped massively, and it felt great to be using skills from my old career to build my new one!

I opened my own web shop in May and my Etsy store a few months later. It has been wonderful making things for people and getting such great feedback from them. When I'm not busy making to fulfill an order, or running the practical side of my business, I'm greedily consuming inspiration from all manner of places and designing new products. I never want to stand still when it comes to learning new skills and developing the ones I have, and that shouldn't be a problem - my creative business keeps me challenged!

Every time I complete an item and package it up to post, I'm thinking about the person I made it for and hoping that they will love it. That is just the best feeling in the world and reminds me that my business is absolutely personal - in every way.

Returns and exchanges
I gladly accept returns and exchanges
Contact me within: 14 days of delivery
Ship items back within: 30 days of delivery
I don't accept cancellations
But please contact me if you have any problems with your order.
The following items can't be returned or exchanged
Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:
  • Custom or personalised orders
  • Perishable products (like food or flowers)
  • Digital downloads
  • Intimate items (for health/hygiene reasons)
Ready made items:

Once you’ve received your goods, if you are not happy with your purchase for any reason and wish to cancel, please use the model form here, to let me know: http://extfiles.etsy.com/cancellation-forms/EUCancellationFormEN.pdf within 14 calendar days of receiving your order.

Items must be returned to me within a reasonable period and you should obtain proof of postage. Goods should be returned in the same condition and in the same packaging as when they were sent to you, and packed carefully. I reserve the right to refuse any returns if the condition of the item(s) differs from that which was sent out. All refunds will be issued via PayPal within 14 calendar days.

Custom made / made to order items:

I won't accept a return or issue a refund where the reason for return is that you have simply changed your mind.

Where goods are not as ordered or are damaged on receipt and you return them, the return postage costs will be refunded to you (on the basis of the mode of return postage I agree with you BEFORE you send the item(s) back to me).

I also have the right to cancel if I'm unable to fulfill your order due to circumstances beyond my control (such as being unable to obtain a specific material necessary to the item’s construction). I will always seek to offer you a suitable alternative in these circumstances, but if this isn’t possible or the alternative isn’t acceptable to you and I do need to cancel your order, I will provide a full refund via PayPal within 14 calendar days of confirming cancellation to you.
Payment
All prices and costs are in Pounds Sterling.

The only payments I accept are via PayPal, a secure payment processing company. You don’t need to have a PayPal account of your own to use this service as you can pay with your credit or debit card and I will never see your card information, only your shipping address, email address and the details of your order.

My prices may change from time to time but the price you pay will always be the price shown at the time you placed your order.
Shipping
On receipt of your order, I'll confirm whether the item you’ve requested is in stock. If it is, I'll usually post it to you within 48 hours. Because of the nature of my items, many of them are handmade to order and if this is the case, I'll confirm the estimated dispatch date to you on receipt of your order.

I can ship anywhere, shipping costs are given for each item.

For larger / more valuable items, the shipping costs stated already include UK signed for postage or Tracked postage for International shipping but I do also offer some shipping upgrades for most other domestic and international packages, which you will see as an option in your cart when you check out. One of the upgrades is for tracked international postage, which is the best international service available at a reasonable cost. International Tracked items receive priority handling and benefit from an online tracking facility so you can check your items's progress right through to delivery. If you're in Continental Europe and would like to upgrade your Standard Shipping item to the tracked service, please message for a quotation, as it may be lower than shown at checkout.

I'm also happy to post direct to a giftee and include a hand written message - either include this on your order or convo me separately, whichever is easier for you.

If you have other particular postage or delivery needs, please convo me to discuss. Please note that I can't expedite or guarantee delivery internationally, but the service to most countries is already generally pretty quick from the UK (for example, 1 to 2 weeks to the USA).

Delivery is always as per the Royal Mail’s estimated delivery timetable (see the Post Office web site: http://www.postoffice.co.uk/).

Please note that responsibility for compliance with your country's laws and procedures regarding any conditions or restrictions applied to the item(s) you order from me, rests entirely with you, at all times. I'm also not responsible for any costs or charges that might be applied by your country's border / customs authorities.
Additional policies and FAQs
I transact all business in English and in accordance with UK law.

None of the items offered for sale on this site are suitable as toys for children.

Whilst every effort is made to provide an accurate representation of items for sale, small details may vary due to the handmade nature of the items. If I need to substitute a material used for a design, I'll obtain your agreement in the first instance and cancel the order with no charge to you, if the substitute is unacceptable to you.

Please be aware that colours vary between computer monitors so whilst my photographs are as accurate as possible, the colours may appear differently to you on screen to the physical item.
