It started with a sick obsession with knives...

My mother raised me right: Hallowe'en was always an important holiday with plenty of pumpkin carving. In the early '90s, we were early adopters of intricate pumpkin carving which has led to a family tradition of over-the-top jack o'lantern displays every Hallowe'en.

Tragically, my love for carving was limited to a few days each year. Fortunately in 2010 I discovered letterboxing, which is a treasure hunt style game involving hand carved stamps. This was the perfect way to let me carve year-round. After being asked to carve a number of delicate stamps for weddings, I finally bit the bullet and opened Cuts & Scrapes in 2015.

In the short time since I've been open, I have been amazed and wowed by the interesting designs that people have asked me to carve. I love doing custom work and I now have a place to showcase both hand carved stamps and pumpkins :)

Come visit me on Instagram to see my process and have a peek at some of the carves I've been working on: @cutsandscrapesetsyshop

  • Jo

    Owner, Creator

I personally carve each one of my stamps and pumpkins and enjoy the rhythm of slicing through rubber or pumpkin. I have been carving since long before any responsible parent would give a child a knife. In my spare time, I work in local government.

  • Bunny Cat

    Chief Quality Assurance Officer

Although eager to assist with carving, the bunny's work has proven to be haphazard at best. Instead, she is involved with supervision of the creation process and personally inspects each shipping box before orders go out.

Frequently asked questions
Which size should I order?

That's a tricky question to answer! The sizes given refer to the size of the image that is printed by my stamps. It's really up to you how you want your design to appear when stamped :)

How long will it take for my order to arrive? Is there tracking?

After your stamp is created and shipped, the estimated shipping timelines are:

Within Canada: 5-10 business days
To USA: 5-15 business days
Everywhere else: 10-30 business days

Please note that in order to give you affordable shipping rates, my orders do not come with tracking. If you need tracking, please let me know and I can give you a quote for a shipping upgrade.

What ink should I use?

This really depends on the surface you're stamping on and what the stamped design is for. The quality of ink really makes a difference in stamped projects.

I love the inks make by Tsukineko and they have a line of inks for just about anything (I am not affiliated in any way with them) and my go-to ink is StazOn which is good for most of my projects. Check them out and I'm sure you'll find an ink that is right for you.

What carving material do you use?

Each stamp is carved to order and may be carved into a different colour carving material. Rest assured, your stamp will be carved with care into a high-quality material.

Due to the the hand-carved nature of this item, I must ink the stamp to test its impression during the carving process, but this will not affect your use of the stamp.
