Rainforest, reef and wildlife, painted from life on Costa Rica's Caribbean coast
Daniel cresceu no estúdio do pai, o pintor costarriquenho Robert Wesson.

Daniel Wesson is a Costa Rican painter and naturalist living in the Puerto Viejo area of the South Caribbean. His work comes from daily time in the tropics, from the cloud forests of Monteverde to the Caribbean rainforest, coastline and coral reef.
He sees tropical nature as maximalist: an extraordinary density of species, forms, textures and colors that never stops changing. Daniel works in series and lets each subject decide its own treatment. His paintings move between impressionism, subtle abstraction, realism and magical realism.
His paintings are built up in successive layers of paint, often with fluorescent and metallic pigments, to capture the heightened color and light of being immersed in nature, above and below the water. As a naturalist, birdwatcher and freediver, he paints his subjects with both accuracy and intention. When figures and animals appear, they are woven into their surroundings, suggesting a quiet connection between people and the natural world.
Art runs in the family. Daniel grew up around the studio of his father, the Costa Rican painter Robert Wesson. Together they run Arte Jaguar, a family gallery with locations in Monteverde and Playa Chiquita.
