About DebraHeywoodDesign
Designing and Making Bespoke Jewellery in Penzance Cornwall
Having spent most of my life in West Penwith and more recently in the heart of Penzance I have a special connection to this area which inspires me deeply in my creativity and jewellery making.
The amazing light and energy in the landscape around me, the rocky coves, sandy beaches and rugged coastline open my mind to a special creativity that is channelled into my silver jewellery designs.
Although training on a short course in silversmithing at Morrab Art School, Penzance for 8 weeks where I learnt the basics of silversmithing, the majority of my techniques are self taught and come from experimental methods and a keen eye for detail.
My studio overlooks Penzance Harbour and it is here I work designing and making each piece of bespoke jewellery by hand. I take pride in designing and making and love letting my imagination and creativity take over to create beautiful shapes, textures and patinas. I make all my earring hooks and clasps to create a completely handmade piece.
I am always open to commissions and would love to hear your ideas so please do get in touch or take a look at my website www.debraheywood.co.uk

Care instructions
Silver will tarnish over time. This is a completely natural process. The rate of tarnish will vary with each individual and is dependant upon exposure to chemicals and pollutants. So, it's worth being mindful of things like showering, applying body lotions or perfumes. The jewellery is not artificially sealed to prevent this tarnish.
To maintain your jewellery, a quick polish with a silver polishing cloth will remove any light tarnish or a silver dip.
Sizing details
Please see details of individual pieces for exact size measurements and if you have any queries please do get in touch.
Custom and personalised orders
I happily take commissions for custom made gifts from your ideas. I usually meet with you to discuss this and turn your ideas into a lovingly made piece of jewellery. Please do get in touch.
Materials Used
I work with fine silver (999) and sterling silver (925) some pieces also include 18ct Gold.
Hall marking
I have a hall mark and makers mark registered with the London Assay Office. You will notice, however that not all of my jewellery designs carry a hall mark. This is because there is only a legal requirement to hall mark items made partly or exclusively of Sterling Silver (excluding the weight of any stones set) if they exceed 7.78g. Designs that are heavier than this weight are all hall marked without exception. More information on hallmarking and the legal requirements can be found https://theassayoffice.co.uk/uploads/pdfs/act-legislation.pdf
