Hello everyone, my name is Clive and welcome to my Etsy shop. I am a successful research immunologist (Doc!) who currently works for the government and previously an academic at Oxford university. However, after losing my wife to cancer in 2010 and coping with things like the pandemic it got me thinking about what I really want to do with my life, as its totally too short!

I am a keen amateur woodworker and love a bit of up cycling as well as building and flying RC aircraft. I design my own items and I have made much of the furniture and items around my house. I was taught by my grandad and as a youngster I spent many happy hours in his shed.

I am inspired by retro mod and steam punk, I like to take old items and upcycle them into new modern items whilst still keeping their DNA in tact. The same goes with my furniture which I design and build in a farmhouse shabby chic style.

I have dreams of getting myself out of the rat race and having a workshop in the Yorkshire Dales and hence 'Designed By Doc' was born to chase that dream
