Welcome to my pattern shop! I have loved knitting since I was a young child and my Nan taught me. I finally got up the courage to write down and share some of my own knitting patterns and launch Emma Sadler Designs.

I am trained as a Primary School teacher but in 2011 I decided to take some time off with the children. I went back to teaching in 2019, but this time in the 16 - 19 age range. I now teach adult courses in children's mental health via distance learning.

I am constantly improving my crochet, but knitting is my passion. You only have to see the boxes and boxes of yarn in my house to know this! I am often telling my husband I don't have a yarn problem but I do have a serious lack of knitting time! I have so many new ideas that I wake up in the middle of the night searching out a pen and paper to sketch them down. I now sleep with a note pad on the bedside table!

When I am in the knitting phase of a new design I will be found in my comfy chair watching a good movie or binge watching the latest TV series. Once I have finished making a design I will be found at my computer, with the radio on, putting everything down in pattern form. I can spend hours tweaking the maths, the charts and the layout so it is as clear and concise as possible. It is at this point that all of my patterns are sent to a tech editor to check over and test knitters to make sure my instructions can be followed by real knitters. I think this is vitally important as I want to make sure there are no errors.

I like to be making something new all the time and once I have designed something I am itching to get on to the next project. I am always really happy to see knitters selling finished items from any of my patterns. If you decide to do the same then please make sure you credit me as the designer and use your own photos.
