About

A Q&A with graphic artist and designer, Matt Berry.

Why did you start Dinkit?

I started Dinkit because it was a way of expressing my love for sport and football in particular and combining that with my passion for typography and graphic design. I thought it would be great to share it with people who love design and sport.

What motivates you to create these unique prints?

Firstly, it’s fun to do. Being a designer and working for clients day-to-day commands a different way of working. A different kind of focus. Creating prints or products people can buy gives instant gratification, where a client job can take months or years to complete. I love the fact that I can make someones day by sending them one of these great prints.

What’s your favourite print?

It’s a tough one as there are many that I like. I think it has to be one of the A to Z range. I put so much time and energy into those letterforms, staying up late and into the night to complete the set. I love them all, but if I was to pick one out it has to be Liverpool. It’s my club, but I also love the nod towards the classic 80’s kit when they were winning everything. It’s a graphic language that sticks in my mind from a young boy.

Would you consider partnering with others to sell prints?

Yes sure. The prints are currently in three online shops. I don’t go looking though. I started on Etsy, but the other two shops approached me. I have also been asked by another two, but I have to be selective about where I put the prints. They are special, so I don’t feel the need to put them everywhere. I want to retain the originality of my ideas and the Dinkit brand.

How does creating prints inform your other client-based work?

It gives me a different focus. So it’s not all about being a service, but also being a creator of products. It keeps me fresh and there’s a nice balance between the two.

What would you say to new people coming into the world of selling art online?

Creativity needs to be seen and with the internet the world is your shop window. Don’t do the same as others, be different, be original. Give people something to think about. Success won’t come overnight, it’s hard work, but nothing worth doing is easy to achieve.

What’s the future for Dinkit?

To keep building the brand, populating the shop with new ideas. There’s a lot more to come. We’ll continue to create stylish and original sports prints that people can enjoy for many years to come.

Thanks for visiting.
Matt.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalised orders

Get in touch, send us your brief and we'll see what we can do for you.

Sizing details

We create prints in International ISO sizes. A2, A3 and A4. Some of our prints are A2 only. We can make some custom sizes on request. Please get in touch.

Care instructions

How you frame our prints is entirely your choice, but we recommend a slim frame so that the artwork really sings out. You can also use a mount if you wish to add that extra detail to frame the artwork. It goes without saying, but please don't put any artwork in a position where it will get too much direct sunlight. UV light can affect colour over time.

Gift wrapping and packaging

All our prints are beautifully packaged, it's what makes us stand out from the crowd. Most of our prints are purchsed as gifts, so you want them to look great from the outset so your recipient gets a lovely suprise. We use tubes for large prints and board protected envelopes for smaller ones.

Wholesale availability

If you are a wholesaler interested in selling our prints please get in touch.
