Creativity and Relaxation Go Hand in Hand

Creativity has always been my passion. In fact, I would go as far as to say that creating is my calling. As a child I very much suffered from a case of two left hands so instead of being hands-on I used my imagination in other ways and wrote stories and novels.

I still do that, but since about 2014 I realised that writing takes a lot of brain-space. I needed something to do when my head wasn't ready to go deep. I decided to take my obsession with books and notebooks a step further and learned how to make my own. My plan to no longer depend on shop bought notebooks slightly backfired, as I now don't just admire the notebooks, but also the paper on offer. For two years friends and family were gifted one notebook after the other and their enthusiasm grew ever weaker.

In 2017 I went to see my grandma and she introduced me to the paper crafts she had been doing. One morning of crafting with grandma and I was hooked. Everything grew from those four hours. I looked at available paper crafts and discovered origami. My hands were still more left than right, but a few weeks of practice and before I knew it my models looked good. I wanted to do more with them and with the other paper crafts I had gotten into.

My partner and friends encouraged me to open an Etsy shop and so... here I am. I'm still experimenting and adding to my collection and skill. Most recently I got back into crocheting after more than half a lifetime of not touching a hook. Now I divide my time between paper crafts, crocheting, writing, and life. The latter is often overpowering everything else, but I try to do at least some creative work every week - mostly because I am never more relaxed or happy than when I'm creative. Every item is made with love and comes straight from my living-room to your home.

  • Christine

    Owner, Designer, Maker

Creative and passionate mind responsible for the chaotic explosion of craft supplies, paper, tiny butterflies, and balls of yarn strewn across the living-room. Has more Really Useful Boxes than Ryman's.

  • Jack

Buys Really Useful Boxes. Occasionally sacrifices his half of the coffee table to the latest paper pile.

  • Gizmo

Will watch the chaos with interest. Will remind Christine when crafting time is over and rabbit-runaround-time begins.

  • Lola

    Product Tester, Mischief Maker

Always needs to know what Christine is up to. Would take at least one bite off every item. Will be blamed for disappeared butterflies, paper, small tools, etc. Is definitely innocent.
