This is such a beautiful item. Well made as always by this seller. It is unique and was a special addition to our Christmas decorations (alongside the one I purchased from this seller last year which is also very unique).

This item is just so beautiful I don't know where to begin! The colours, stitching and design are beautiful and the seller was friendly and shipped straight away, thanks.

About

Elsie May and Bertha, my Nanas

Elsie May Hancock and Bertha Hodson were my Nanas (our grandparents were Nana and Granddad). I used to love playing with Elsie May's button box when we used to visit (unfortunately it was lost to other members of the family) and Bertha had a some lovely bits and pieces.

I named my shop after them because: I wanted to remember them; I loved them; and they lived in the times that a lot of my favourite things are from, including some of their own pieces. The vast majority of the items that I use for making are vintage, with a smattering of antique, from linens and lace to buttons and thread. I have a huge collection of items all ready and waiting for the right project to come along. Though, I do admit that I have a smallish selection of things that I couldn't possibly use or part with!

They make me happy, give me inspiration, remind me of my Nanas, and allow me to drift into speculation on who embroidered the beautiful tablecloth, first bought the lace, the coat or blouse that the buttons were used for (extra special buttons are those that have a snippet of the original garment attached to them!).

I don't like things, especially those that someone spent time making, to be thrown away because they're damaged or no longer in fashion. Reuse and recycle is my mantra (even if my husband thinks that some things are just 'rubbish', today's rubbish is tomorrow's treasure, once I've played about with it a bit! Bless, his heart's in the right place!).

I'm a maker and a lover of vintage, fabric, thread, lace, haberdashery, paper and lots of other things that I wouldn't want to bore you with here! I make everything, apart from the occasional item made by my Mum, that's available on here.
