About the artist

Emma lives in Norfolk, UK and spends her time pursuing her creative interests in art, music and fashion. From a young age she discovered a passion for creating things and was determined to continue exploring this throughout her life. Emma currently plays guitar, flute and piano all of which can be found in the art studio!

About her work

Emma’s work is all about brushwork, tone and colour. She greatly enjoys using the play of light on subject matter to bring her paintings to life. She works rapidly, completing pieces in one sitting, capturing the immediacy of the emotions felt and conveying them though expressive brushwork and colour.
Emma works in oils, either on box canvas, canvas paper or board. Her pieces are normally completed using only one or two brushes, sometimes a finer one for small details. Emma’s style is intuitive and impressionistic.
Painting is always a relaxing and spontaneous event that Emma enjoys. She hopes that this is conveyed through her pieces allowing the viewer to feel the pleasure with which each piece was painted, through her vibrant colours and playful brushstrokes.

Paintings are created on hand made canvases, normally linen, prepared using the traditional technique of stretching and sizing with rabbit skin glue, followed by oil priming. This creates a superior surface for painting and enhances the quality of each piece.

Painting and drawing is something I've enjoyed from a very young age. My preferred mediums are oils, pen and pencil. I love using lots of colour and texture in my pieces.

About the artist

About the artist:
Emma Kate Hulett is a fine artist living and working in Norfolk, England. Her pieces are spontaneous and freely worked, leaving them textured and loose. She is a member of the Institute of East Anglian Artists (IEA) where she exhibits in their yearly open exhibition as well as many of their other events around the UK.

Emma paints using a short flat brush, often using the same one throughout the painting. Her paintings seek to give the impression of form and colour without too much detail. Each painting is a statement of enjoyment of the process rather than perfecting a realistic image of the reference.

Most paintings are reasonably small but packed with colour and texture.

How do I frame my painting?

All paintings are ready to frame. Paintings on canvas paper can be secured to a mount board then inserted into the frame.

Most paintings on canvas paper are not a standard size and so will need a custom frame made.

You can either have a professional framer frame your painting or have a mount cut to surround the painting before fitting it into a standard size frame bought from a store. Your framer should be able to help you with either option.
