Ceramics and glass

I live and work in Nottingham. I make ceramics based on nature including large bird tiles as well as smaller jewellery pieces that are inspired by the Nottingham lace industry. Examples of my larger work can be found at www.farahbatool.com.

I have a very specific process when I work which takes months of trial and error before reaching the polished pieces I choose to sell. I very much love working with glass and it’s slightly unpredictable qualities paired with the fine and delicate nature of porcelain makes for the perfect temperamental partner.

I started messing around with clay well over 5 years ago, I say this as I spent many years just practicing and playing around with ideas. This eventually lead to me developing my process and taking part in local events across Nottingham and Derbyshire including Wirksworth festival, Melbourne festival, Belper festival and Sherwood arts week to name a few.

This Etsy shop is dedicated to selling the smaller items I create which at present are mainly jewellery. These really are a labour of love, delicate hand rolled discs which are then manipulated with lace and hand painted to a fine finish. The glass jewellery follows the same process as my larger tiles but in a fresher more abstract style. In both cases I was hoping to create a modern and versatile daily wear accessory that suits a broad range of ages, tastes and styles. I hope you like what you see and I welcome any feedback.

Additional policies and FAQs

Ceramic jewellery, like any ceramic, is not indestructible. Although fairly hardy it can break if dropped or crushed.
