Bought this as a birthday gift along with one of the pocket mirrors, the recipient was delighted with the product, came on time and the packaging is charming in itself. Good quality and a great gift for uni students!

About

Welcome to Francesca's Words.

I'm Francesca. Hi. You might have seen me on Twitter, Tumblr or on the Women's March Instagram page. There is a small possibility we've *actually met in real life.*

Some promo while I'm here: I’m trialling free UK postage on all items – no coupon necessary!

~SOME HISTORY~

I started my Etsy when I was supposed to be doing homework, partly because I hated homework and partly because I like making things and putting them on the Internet (I've been blogging at IndifferentIgnorance.com since 2009 and writing stories for various places since around then too). I fell into making stationery and accessories by accident after years of going to buy someone a card or gift and either loving the design (pretty flowers! A sweet dog! A cute cartoon!) and hating the wording (my darling friend! To my soul mate! The Lord is watching over you!) or vice versa. Is it really so hard to want a well-designed birthday card or tote bag with a message that isn't patronising, sexist or boring?

Apparently.

So now I make my own.

~THE ARTISTIC PROCESS~

I use Photoshop to design everything (I don't have any actual qualifications, I kind of just click on things until they look nice) and aim to offer products of the standard I expect from ‘real’ shops. I use UK-based professional printers and manufacturers which are listed on each product. (Please message me if you'd like more info about them.)

~WERE DOES YOUR MONEY GO?~

After boring business stuff like Etsy fees and product costs and all that, I plunge all my turnover back into Etsy or events in Southend – I have BIG PLANS, including cards, more accessories and more stationery items. I’d like to draw a wage eventually and fund things like my epic travel plans (every EU country before Brexit! Australasia! North America if Trump doesn’t kill it!), my higher education plans (graphic design classes! Business management classes! Classical studies classes!) and treats for my dogs.

~WHERE TO FIND ME~

You can keep up with me on social media to get the latest gossip/grumbling - just click the links on this page. You can also find me on DeviantART at tobequitefrank.deviantart.com, and on Tumblr at francescaswords.tumblr.com. My email is info [!at] francescaburke.com.

If you’d like to support my blog or writing, you can become a patron on Patreon at http://patreon.com/FrancescaBurke.

~THANK YOU FOR READING THIS FAR. WE BOTH KNOW YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO.~

Your feedback is incredibly helpful, so please leave a review if you buy something, or start a conversation if you have any ideas, suggestions or questions. Sometimes processing times change for each product depending on what is in stock; 1-plus week processing times usually mean something has to be ordered from the printer. If you'd like more info just start a conversation!

Frequently asked questions

Custom and personalised orders

I'm happy to do custom orders. Please start a conversation or request a custom order if you're interested and I will see what I can do. Please note that starting a conversation is not the same as placing an order!

Wholesale availability

If you're interested in placing a large order, please get in touch via a conversation and I'll see what I can do!

Postage & packaging costs and processing times

All items automatically ship as 'standard' items, ie not tracked. Tracked & Signed upgrades are available.

Standard postage to the UK is free! Unfortunately I can't afford to offer free international P&P, but I estimate my costs based on weight and envelope size according to Royal Mail, and tweak costs regularly to keep them as low as possible.

An item marked as being ready to ship in 1-3 business days is in stock. Anything marked 1-2 weeks means I have to order at least one component from my suppliers; I will always keep you updated with progress.

Do you accept exchanges, returns and refunds? What will you refund?

I do accept returns and refunds.

If you wish to cancel an order, please do so before it has shipped or been downloaded and I will refund you immediately. If you wish to return or refund an order after it has shipped, please notify me within 14 days of taking delivery, and return the order within 21 days of delivery. I can exchange the item for one of equal value, or refund the entire order (including the original shipping cost). I just ask that you pay to return the order to me (my address will be on the envelope). I cannot accept returns or refunds on downloaded digital items.

If something arrives damaged, please contact me with photographs. I always package orders with great care and cannot take responsibility for the postal service.

Gift wrapping and packaging

I package all my orders with great care. The items themselves are shipped in cellophane and/or bubble wrap to keep them clean and dry, and I always mark outer packaging as fragile. The size and type of envelope depends on the order: I usually use board-backed envelopes for cards and notebooks and bubble envelopes for 'softer' items, but if you order a bundle it will probably ship in a bubble envelope as they fit more in.

If you're interested in having an item gift wrapped, please contact me and I'll see what I can do. Gift wrapping something that's going through the post can be tricky as my priority is practicality (ie lots of selloptape!) but I'll always see what I can do on an order by order basis.
