Announcement    Glass Oyster is all about one off, luxury bridal accessories. We are all about intricate detailing, exquisite designs, soft organzas, gorgeous laces, sparkling crystals and luminescent pearls.

Our signature style is influenced heavily by florals and hand beaded embroidery.

If you are a bride looking for a beautiful and different bridal accessory, we have some tempting treats. From hair bands, vines and combs to headpieces, neckpieces and belts, there are lots of stunning designs to choose from.

I'm Gail Jones the designer behind Glass Oyster and I am inspired by Art Nouveau, the elegance of the 1950's, the detailing of the 1920's, beaded purses, gorgeous textiles and asymmetry amongst many other things.

My love of florals and hand beaded embroidery is heavily reflected in my designs. I scour markets, second hand shops and the internet for vintage finds which I then re-work into some of the designs to make them truly special.

I don't buy appliques off the internet - I embroider and embellish every piece myself. Many of my designs require intricate beaded embroidery and take between 30 to 100 hours of sewing to complete.

I use only the finest materials such as soft organzas, beautiful silks, velvet, lace, beads from vintage jewellery and many other beautiful items I happen to stumble across. Fresh water pearls, crystals and diamantes also make many an appearance in my designs for a dash of glamour.

I make all the pieces by hand here in my studio located in the South Downs National Park. Because the designs are one offs, you can be sure that there will always be something new and exciting emerging.

Glass Oyster was started back in 2007 and the designs have been regularly featured in bridal publications such as You And Your Wedding, Wedding Ideas and Perfect Wedding.

Hi and welcome to my Glass Oyster Etsy shop. My name is Gail and I have been designing and making bridal headdresses since 2007. I don't have any particular style or am inspired by any particular era - I like to not be restricted in my creativity! What I would say is that I love beauty for beauty's sake and that's what drives me. I just want to make beautiful headdresses which brides will love and cherish. I've always been passionate about design and although largely self taught, I'm always trying to strive to learn new skills which can then be put to use in my designs. Some of the pieces in my shop have a vintage vibe, and some are more romantic. However, each piece has been handmade by myself with the greatest care and attention to detail. I hand cut and shape all the organza and lace flowers, and bead and wire all the beadwork. It can take several days to make just one piece.

I primarily sell my designs through bridal boutiques here in the UK. My work has been featured in several of the national bridal magazines and also on Wedding TV.

The rest of the time, I'm a mum to two children and hopefully a decent wife to my husband! Anyway, I hope you will enjoy looking at my pieces. Please get in touch if I can help in anyway.
