Glover & Greenwood is about pearl jewellery with a contemporary feel. Newsletter sign up

We are a mother and daughter team who both love jewellery and in particular both love pearls. Why? Because there is nothing else quite like them. There is something about wearing genuine pearls that makes us feel extra special, gives us confidence and generally makes us feel good. We love this feeling so much that we want to share it with all women including those, particularly those who don't think pearl jewellery is for them. Forget those visions of "Miss Marple" and this stereotypical image of "twinset and pearls".. Yes we will have traditional hand knotted pearl necklaces and simple earrings because sometimes it is that timeless and elegant look that is perfect for the occasion, and a piece such as the classic strand of pearls that can go on to become a family heirloom is exactly what's wanted.
We are about much more than that. With the development of the cultured pearl industry the choice of pearls available is wider than ever. From naturally ivory white pearls to pearls dyed every colour of the rainbow.
From round or near round pearls to pearls in a whole variety of shapes.
Small to large, round or flat, white or coloured, we aim to showcase the incredible variety of pearls available to choose from today.

Pearls are an organic gemstone and each one will have its own characteristics, the "perfect" white perfectly spherical, blemish free pearl with high lustre remains incredibly rare, instead each pearl will have its own personality and his own beauty. We do guarantee that all our pearls are genuine freshwater pearls or in some cases shell pearls (clearly listed as such) and also that we buy our pearls from suppliers who can guarantee they have been sourced ethically. A few designs will also be available in top-quality branded artificial pearls and these designs will be listed as such. We do not use unbranded glass pearls.

Findings used will include plated on base metals such as copper (but all bought from sources that guarantee these are nickel and leadfree), or sterling silver which may also be plated with gold or rose gold. In many cases you will notice a choice. We have decided not to use precious metals for all our designs as we know this would put them out of the price bracket for some buyers and we are committed to making our jewellery accessible to as many people as possible.

We are always happy to discuss a custom order with you and to answer any questions you may have about our jewellery.

With Glover and Greenwood we want to make pearl jewellery for every woman, and even for women who didn't think pearl jewellery was for them!

And why Glover and Greenwood?
Section written by Gillian Haqqani mother of Alice Sharp
Our shop is named for two women who loved wearing their artificial pearls and dreamed of being able to wear the real thing. My late mother and aunt, for both of whom that classic look of a short pearl necklace plus pearl earrings was jewellery essential, to be worn on any occasion when they wanted to feel special. We can't make their dream of owning real pearls come true sadly, but we hope to make it come true for many other women.

Frequently asked questions
Custom and personalised orders

I am always happy to create a special piece of jewellery for you whether it be for yourself or as a present for a loved one. Just message me and we can discuss your requirements, cost and the time involved to create your special piece.

Sizing details

I always try to give as much information about the sizes of my pieces as possible in the descriptions and give these measurements in both centimetres and inches.

Care instructions

The most important thing to remember when wearing jewellery made from genuine pearls is that they should be

"The last thing you put on and the first thing you take off."

Real pearls can be damaged if they come into contact with perfume and make up so these should always be applied before putting them on. And in the same way at the end of the day your pearls should be taken off before you start to remove your make up and apply any face creams.

Pearls love to be worn and the natural oils from your skin help to maintain their lustre.

Pearl necklaces showed always being stored flat in their own box or pouch.

The above comments relate to pieces made from genuine freshwater cultivated pearls, not shell pearls or artificial pearls

Gift wrapping and packaging

All the pieces in my collection will come in quality packaging.

Most pieces will be packed in a deep blue velvet jewellery bag, while necklaces and more expensive designs will come in a white jewellery box, tied around with navy blue ribbon.

Free gift wrapping is also offered.

Wholesale availability

Please contact me if you wish to discuss placing a wholesale order.

Delivery times

I post all UK orders by second class post. If you wish to upgrade to tracked and signed for, or guaranteed 24-hour delivery please contact me and I will quote you a price.

Non-UK orders will be sent by Royal mail standard delivery. The time taken is normally 5-10 working days. Again please contact me if you wish to upgrade to a tracked and signed for service.

Please remember that at Christmas shipping times often become slower. A list of last order dates will be added to the announcement section on my shop homepage. While you can still place orders after this cut off time I make no promise that they will arrive in time.

Why doesn't the tracking number work?

I use Etsy postage labels. Etsy automatically adds a tracking number even when the item is being sent untracked. Orders are sent untracked unless this is requested by the buyer.

When will I get my order?

Please note the timings given are the time it takes me to make and post orders. They are not an indication of when you can expect to receive your order as I have no control over delivery times.
