The candle smells amazing, I've had it unlit in my room all day and it's so good. It burns really well too. The delivery was excellent, I ordered on Sunday and it arrived on Tuesday. Definitely worth the money, I will be buying more of Elle's candles.

Good Book Hunting - Bookish Gifts for Bookish People

I'm a huge book nerd! I also love candles, so what could be better than combining my love of both and creating book inspired candles! Our candles are all handmade and hand poured in small batches here in Scotland, UK and we only use the best natural soy wax and quality fragrance oils in our products. All our candles are inspired by books that we have read in our Good Book Hunting book group or books that I have in my own collection (you can see some of my bookshelves pictured above). My favourite genres are 19C Fiction, Urban Fantasy, Nordic Noir, Sci-Fic and Young Adult (especially fantasy) but I read many different genres and I'm always open to suggestions for new candles.

The first time I made my own candles was about 15 years ago and just for fun. There are so many crafts that I love that I put it on the back burner for a while and it was only recently when I was looking to add to my existing business that I realised that I could incorporate candles into my plan, so I dusted off the candle making equipment and started experimenting with scents, and so Good Book Hunting Studio was born. Book inspired candles are not a new idea, there are quite a few out there already, but I could never find a candle that was exactly what I was looking for so the only solution was to make my own and since I was already familiar with candle making I could start the process immediately. This is not something to be taken lightly, the whole process from idea, to concept, to materials sourcing, to testing, to finally opening the shop in December 2016 took about six months. We are also CLP compliant with our labelling.

Good Book Hunting is the name of our online book group which was created in 2005 and we have been reading and discussing books ever since - that's a LOT of books! We are also very different in what we love to read, so we cover a LOT of genres, so when I was deciding what the first candles would be, I went to our book discussions and chose the most popular books chosen by our group.
So I sat down with the list of all our favourite books and discovered it was so easy to think up scent ideas for most of them straight away, some others were a little more tricky! Because I am also a designer, I wanted to combine other products that I design and make with the candles, so that I could offer a range of different gift ideas and gift boxes so from time to time there will also be other gift items in the shop as our product range develops, that are designed or handmade by me.
I carry a notebook around with me as new scent and candle names and ideas pop into my head all the time. The list grows ever longer but even with my really long list, I am still open to suggestions from other Book Lovers. It's been so exciting planning this range of candles and gifts and I love being able to share it with other book lovers.

Candles make the best gifts and what better gift could there be than to give someone something tailored to the book they love? We love creating custom scents for individuals and large orders, weddings, birthday parties, corporate functions etc. Wholesale inquiries and subscription boxes, please contact us by etsy convo or via our website at

Candle Care & Safety

Always trim the wick before burning - this will help the candle to burn cleanly and for longer, and will keep the flame height down.
Candles should be burned for no more than four hours at a time.
Container candles should never be left to burn until there is no wax left as this can cause the container to get very hot.
Please discontinue use when there is 1cm of wax remaining.
Always place candle on a heat resistance surface, and keep away from draughts, other sources of heat and anything flammable.
Burn the candle out of the reach of children and pets.
Keep burning candles at least 5cm (2 inches) away from each other.
Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Please refer to the candle safety label on the container for more info.

Wholesale availability

Most of our candles are available for wholesale orders. If you are looking for something unique but similar to our current candles, and would like something tweaked slightly, then we are open to discussing your requirements. 8oz candle - approx +/-40 hours.
4oz candle - approx +/-20 hours.
When first burning the candle, please burn long enough for the melt pool to reach the sides of the container to ensure the candle burns evenly and lasts as long as possible.

Always trim the wick to 1/4 inch each time before lighting the candle and keep the candle free of debris such as wick trimmings or matches. Burn for 3 hours at a time to achieve the best results.
