Tea Makes Everything Better
Hello! This is my story :) I arrived in Gloucestershire with my lovely husband Ben one January on the sea breeze from North Devon. We have made a home in Cheltenham, and it is from my lovely home studio here that I draw, stitch, make and create.
I grew up in The Potteries, Staffordshire, leaving at 19 to spend a favourite few years in gorgeous Cornwall whilst studying for a degree in Textile Design at Falmouth University. After graduating, I hopped over the border to settle for a year by the beautiful North Devon Coast before spending an amazing, exciting year spent travelling the world. I've flitted around a lot over the last 5 years, but wherever I am, I always feel at home with needle and thread in hand, working on something lovely in an embroidery hoop.
Grace Gatley Textiles (the business) was born in 2013 when in a bid to put down some sturdy Cotswold roots and integrate myself into the community, I began making to sell (rather than making because I love!) in a couple of local art boutiques and at farmers' markets.
Tea, and the culture of tea and coffee-drinking fascinates me; the notion that is so resolutely instilled in most Brits that a delicious hot cuppa can cure almost everything... (It's true!) 'Lovely Words' also feature heavily in all of my pieces, from cute quotes and little phrases that conjure a smile, to beautiful words and passages of scripture from the Bible.
I hope that you've enjoyed wandering my shop. Please follow my instagram feed for sneak peeks and works in progress! https://www.instagram.com/gracegatleytextiles/
I am Grace, a textile artist and maker working from my lovely home studio in Cheltenham with assistance of two lovely old Berninas. I hope soon to employ a studio cat to help out with the daily grind, but more on that later.
It is full of things with which to adorn your walls, brighten up your favourite armchair or wear on your best cardi.
Everything in my shop is handmade by me in Cheltenham. Commissions are most definitely welcomed; if you would like to chat to me about having something special created just for you, please send me a message :)
