Beautiful Pro-British Flowers | Grown Not Flown

The Great British Florist is part of our small company Wiggly Wigglers based on Lower Blakemere Farm in Herefordshire. Wiggly Wigglers has been supplying British Flowers for the last nine years as part of our natural gardening business. We have found that people love to buy proper real flowers that vary from bouquet to bouquet, that change through the seasons. It makes a real change from the usual imported mass produced alternative.

In 2012 we decided to focus on British Flowers and offer a larger selection and so The Great British Florist was born. Our farm has planted a cutting patch packed with traditional garden flowers to add to the sunflowers, wheat and barley it already produces for the florist.

The Great British Florist – who we are, what we do and what we promise
Here at GBF we aim to be great, British, florists.

We pledge to deliver the very best – whether that’s the best quality, service, value or provenance to all of our customers and to be open, honest and transparent in our dealings with them and our suppliers.

We are proud to actively promote British flowers. Not only are flowers that are #grownnotflown kind to the environment, they are fresh, scented and are naturally beautiful. Buying British flowers means we are supporting British growers, many of whom are small, independent businesses and of course helping to lower flower miles - because at the moment only 10 per cent of the flowers sold in Britain are actually grown here.

All our staff are professionals; approachable and trustworthy experts, who will always work very closely with clients and can offer the very best advice and support, ensuring that customers get exactly what it is they are looking for – from a simple posy to glorious flowers for a whole wedding. We are design innovators and many of our customers return time and again because we can deliver the wow factor they are seeking from their floral displays. We are constantly updating and upgrading our skills and knowledge to be at the cutting edge of artisan floral design. We will always aim to deliver what our customers want, in an efficient and effective manner; never, ever, compromising on quality.

We promise a consistent service, guaranteeing quality of products and delivery and will strive to get it right first time, every time.

One of the things GBF customers love is our clear pricing structure… you always know what you are getting for your pennies and there are no hidden extras. Whether you buy a buttonhole or the flowers for a funeral or a wedding our pricing policy is straightforward and upfront and our team works hard to ensure that you can order everything online quickly and simply or if you’d prefer to discuss your requirements with a real live human floral expert then you can telephone us.

We are also committed to having as little negative impact on the environment as we possibly can, and constantly look for ways to improve how we do things. We also strive to have a positive impact on our communities and offer support wherever possible. We are proud supporters of Rotary and all three directors are members of Hereford City Rotary Club.

If ever things don’t quite go to plan we will always investigate thoroughly and should we identify areas that need to be changed or improved we will do that – and make sure everyone who needs to be is involved in every stage of the process.

We aim to be one of Britain’s top businesses in our sector and to always be that little bit different – that little bit better. And we want to make sure we – and you – have fun as we work together.

We are very proud of our products and services. If you are not delighted with your purchase for whatever reason please get in touch. We will cheerfully attend to the problem.

Please telephone us on 01981 500930 or email us via flowers [!at] to let us know about the problem.

If we have sent you something you haven’t ordered please let us know within seven days. You can return it within 28 working days (unused and in its original packaging, please) and, of course, you will not be charged.
Order Damaged in Transit?

Please let us know within fourteen days if your purchase was damaged in transit (but please check the paragraph regarding Plants and Floristry below first). We will replace the item free of charge. Just make sure you return the item in its original packaging; return postage will, of course, be free of charge.
Received Defective Goods?

If you receive an item that is defective, please contact us within fourteen days, informing us of the problem (but please check the paragraph regarding Plants and Floristry below first). You can return it within 28 working days (unused and in its original packaging please) for either a replacement or a refund.
Before returning Plants or Floristry

If you ever receive a plant, or something from the Wiggly Florist, that seems in poor condition when you unpack it, please, please, contact us immediately. We might then ask you to send us a photograph, if possible, so that there is no doubt as to the item’s condition on arrival with you, as opposed to what it looks like by the time you return it to us.

Please bear in mind that plants will look different depending on the season. In winter, even the bushiest tree will turn up looking very bare, and some wildflowers won’t even show above the soil level! That doesn’t mean there's anything wrong with them, just that it’s out of season. Indeed, shipping in this dormant state is often the best way to do it. Plants will perk up when the weather does.
However, provided that you have contacted us within 48 hours of receiving the problem plant we will happily arrange for a refund or replacement once we have received the picture(s) and determined the cause of the problem.

How to ensure your British Flowers last longer

- Thoroughly wash and rinse your jug or vase. If possible avoid using a metal vase as they affect the nutrient value in your flower food and your flowers may be affected by the oxidants.

- Fill your vase with fresh lukewarm water and stir in the flower food. It’s full of nutrients to help ensure that your flowers will thrive longer. (You’ll need about 1 litre of water to one sachet of flower food.

- If you have a handtied bouquet and want to keep it all in place leave the string tied around the stems and cut about 2cm off each stem at an angle (about 45 degrees will be just the ticket). When your flowers are sitting in their vase the angle means that the bottom of the stems still have plenty of access to the water. (Once you have the flowers in the vase you can of course cut the string for a totally natural look) Tip: If you have a really sharp knife it’’s a good idea to use it to cut the angle – you are less likely to close the stem inside.

- Remove any of the foliage that will end up below the water level as otherwise it will spoil your flowers by decomposing and discolouring the water.

- Put your flowers in a cool place – avoid the radiator, direct sunlight or anywhere really drafty. Tip: Avoid putting your flowers near your fruit bowl – the fruit gives off ethylene gas which ages your flowers.

- Top your flowers up with water daily and replace the water every few days, and recut your stems every 3 days or so.

Please note that some flowers and plants may be harmful or poisonous.

In particular, your arrangement may contain foxgloves or lily of the valley, - which are poisonous and toxic if eaten, and lilies which can be extremely toxic to cats.

Please do not eat and avoid contact with children and animals. Please handle flowers with gloves and wash your hands before eating or drinking.
