Announcement    Policies for COVID-19. My shop will still be open for business, and all items will be carefully shipped with extra care to sanitise and use disposable gloves for handling. Royal Mail staff are also regularly sanitising for postal deliveries.

Shopping online supports artists, and saves you a trip to a germy shop full of more people, and as art galleries are closed, you can buy direct from the artist instead, which directly supports my practice - it's a win-win :-)
I may need to make adjustments, and if we have to self isolate due to illness, I will let you know. We are taking as many precautions to stay healthy in our house!

About HDArtandIllustration

Sales 5
On Etsy since 2017

Illustration, commissions, prints, comics, graphic novels, cards, prints, custom converse.

I was inspired to become a fine artist and illustrator by A-ha's iconic Take On Me video in the 1980's, and specialise in comics and graphic novels, I'm currently focussing on illustration commissions, and I have worked for book illustrations, shop window artwork, zines, editorial, and music industry illustration.
I graduated from the University of Lincoln in 2008, having successfully achieved a joint honours degree as a single parent, with over ten years' postgraduate experience in the arts, and am a striking conceptual and digital fine artist unable to work for free.

I am part of a-n's #payingartists campaign, and am striking until the arts stops trying to exploit artists for free labour - this includes all of the time costs, physical and emotional labour expected of (women) artists - for no or low pay.

I have never had any ambition to work in a shop, gallery or museum for free, I've always been paid properly for the work I have spent years training to do.
Since I became a carer for a young adult with MH, I work smart, not hard, and this is reflected in the price of my work.
Every single sale directly supports and safeguards my role as a carer.
Lincolnshire is pioneering ways for carers to stay in work whilst caring, and the arts is no exception to this.

So what's great about Etsy is that truly discerning clients can buy or commission work when I'm away with caring responsibilities or on respite breaks.

I am currently aiming to get my first graphic novel "Cloudbusting" published, continuing Ms Blackbird's Home For Peculiar People, various riso printing projects, and for bands / musicians / record companies / you to commission work. #hirehelen
