About HandbagsandHome

Unique handbags and homewares, lovingly handmade

A professional photographer since 1997, I was in the Royal Air Force, and living in military barracks most of the time with no room for a sewing machine. The best I could do was a little bit of cross stitch, as that was all I had room for! After I got married in 2010 and had the luxury of a proper house to spread out into, I was sat browsing a well known internet auction site when i spotted a stunning duck egg blue, cast iron sewing machine about to end with no bids on it, so I jumped in with my bid and 5 minutes later I was the proud owner of a sewing machine! A few days later I went and picked it up, and once I got it home I decided to chop up an old pair of jeans and turned them into a tote bag - and so began my addiction to sewing bags! Initially just sewing for pleasure, and to expand my own bag collection, realising that I absolutely loved making bags, of all shapes and sizes, for me to use. After a while I realised that a woman can only have so many bags (if thats possible!) , and I started to give them as gifts to family members. in 2012 I left the RAF and set up my business as a freelance photographer, which then gave me more time to fit in my sewing. Then people started to take notice of photos posted on my personal social media accounts, and started to put in orders, and before I knew it "Handbags and Home" was born! Setting it up as a second business meant that I could now share my bags and other items with the world, and as time has gone on it has evolved and grown, and I now use a lot more high end fabrics, in particular Harris Tweed, handwoven in the Outer Hebrides.
I pride myself on making the perfect bag for my customers, so if you are after something in particular, let me know, as chances are I can make you something totally bespoke and unique to you!

All my items are handcrafted in the South West of the United Kingdom, in a pet-free and smoke-free environment.

Throughout this privacy policy, I will explain where and why I rely on these different legal basis

Why I Need Your Information and How I Use It
