About HappyMakesArt

Sales 0
On Etsy since 2012

About thirty years ago Caroline found a crochet hook and pestered her Gran to show her how to crochet.

Inspired by my Great-grandma & her rainbow of granny squares, I've been crocheting for over 30 years. After the children were born I wanted to improve my skills and try something new, but there wasn't much help around, so I taught myself and eventually created Carry Yarn Stitching, which slowly morphed into Happy Makes.

The inspiration for my art can come from anywhere - a conversation with the dog, a piece of music, the light shining on that jar of buttons on my desk, a walk in the park or from doodling freeform style. After that I sketch ideas and gradually refine my ideas until I have a finished piece I'm happy with. I know it's right when it makes me smile.

I like to give people a choice of brand new or recycled, and when I find good materials to re-purpose, they are usually from local charity shops. Whether I'm browsing for bright and textured fabric, or watch faces, I know I'm helping to support great causes.

Teaching crochet is a very rewarding part of Happy Makes. As a teacher, I've seen people learning in different styles, and my goal is to make crochet and knitting as accessible as possible for as many people as possible, whether that's through a luxurious kit or a face-to-face workshop.

I'm passionate about keeping crafts alive by finding the 'skipped generations', and helping them learn (or rediscover) the art of crochet, and encouraging people to explore the craft in modern ways.

Hi, I'm Caroline, an optimist, a crafter, teacher and the one-woman-band behind Carry Yarn Stitching. I've been crocheting and knitting since I was about 5 years old, and I was the only person to take a crochet hook to primary school!

Cancellation and returns
I hope you are delighted with your order. I would usually rather exchange than refund (it keeps everybody happy and the money simple!)

In the UK and EU: If you find you need to return something, you must let me know as soon as possible and within 14 days of receipt. I don't accept items which I am not expecting. You are entitled to a refund of the price paid plus outward shipping paid. You pay to package the item and return it safely to me (please obtain 'Proof of Postage' at a minimum).

Outside the EU: You are responsible for all shipping costs involved.

Items delivered electronically, for example, patterns and books, are exempt. I take care to describe these accurately, and no refunds can be made due to their nature.

If I need to cancel, move or reschedule the class or event you are entilitled to a refund.
Although you aren't entiltled to a refund if you change your mind or realise you can't attend, if you need to cancel your place, please give me as much notice as possible so I can offer your place to somebody else. If someone else takes your place, I will give you a refund. I reserve the right to check the names on tickets matches my list - reselling is cheeky and not allowed.
How to order
Items are available to buy online (for example Folksy, Etsy or Facebook), or offline (for example craft fairs, demonstrations, other events). I also welcome enquiries about a purchase or personalised commissions via email. An order is considered placed once you receive email confirmation, and you will be notified of the price.

Payment, Postage & Shipping
Payment must be received prior to postage. Online, I accept payment through Paypal. (You can use this to make a credit or debit card payment without holding an account with them). Offline I accept cash and cheque by prior arrangement.
I dispatch within 3 working days of payment clearing, to the address listed in the Paypal transaction details (for security reasons). For UK orders, delivery will be via first class mail, and Non-UK will be standard airmail, and you are responsible for all taxes and fees associated with the package. If you need something else, let me know when you order so I can provide a revised price. I want you to receive your items as soon as possible, but please allow 28 days after dispatch for delivery.

I aim to photograph and describe items accurately, and they are inspected before dispatch, but if you are not delighted with your item I will endeavour to resolve any problems within reason. For personalised items and commissions, it's your responsibility I have correct sizes/text etc.

I sell in different venues, and because of this, it's feasible an item is purchased from a different source, at the same time. If this does happen, I will email you as soon as I notice. The person who orders first will receive the item, and I may be able to reproduce it as closely as possible. If this happens, I will charge the price originally stated.
In summary,

1. I hold minimal information about you – typically an email address and name you provide.
