I am a feltmaker based in Studio 409, St Margaret's House, Edinburgh. I have been working with felt since 2008, and have contributed to textile and home exhibitions around Scotland since 2011.

Until I attended a feltmaking workshop in New Zealand in 2007, I knew virtually nothing about this craft. My introduction to it could not have been bettered. I was shown into a basement garage with a tarpaulin on the floor spread out with every imaginable colour of hand-dyed wool tops, handed a basket and told to fill it. I was enchanted.

Seven years on, I still discover new things about felt every time I am in the studio. What continues to inspire me is the limitless spectrum of colours to work with, the freedom to experiment and the actual method, which is so different from any creative practice I have come across. Furthermore it has a unique versatility; I can make a gossamer-light garment, a room-sized wall hanging, a decorative vessel or a strong, functional bag, all from exactly the same materials.

Twice a year, I open my Studio 409 to the public as part of the Open Doors Programme organised by St Margaret's House. Visitors are always struck by how warm and colourful it is. To me, it is a dynamic space where new ideas and designs are constantly evolving. Working there is one of my greatest pleasures in life.

My shop is an extension of Studio 409, The collections for sale in it reflect my love of colour, texture and design. I will introduce you to new collections throughout the year, ranging from wearable pieces - scarves, bags, garments and corsages - to artworks, vessels and wall hangings.

I am always happy to work on commissions....to create a piece specifically for you. Feel free to contact me to discuss the details of your vision in felt.

Welcome to my shop.

Wool. Cashmere. Alpaca. Linen. Cotton. Silk. Felt is handmade from all of these natural materials. They can be combined to make wearable, functional and decorative fabric. It is a magical process. Each piece is tactile, vibrant and unique.

I hope you enjoy browsing, and that you find something to buy.

Of course, I'd be delighted to make something unique for you. Thank you.
