Pictures, mirrors, and cupboards using pressed flowers

Announcement    Welcome to my Etsy shop, and thank you for stopping by. I do try to add new designs to my shop as regularly as possible, but some times of the year are busier than others. In the summer it's almost impossible to tear myself away from my garden, but I promise I will try:) I'm very busy now with my new market stall, which is very exciting:) All of my pictures are original artworks using a variety of plant materials and real pressed flowers, some with either watercolour, beeswax, or oil pastel backgrounds. Caring passionately about our environment and not wanting to create any waste, I only use recycled frames, or frames made by ourselves using reclaimed timbers. My greeting cards will not be in a plastic bag, but tied together with string.
I'm very excited about selling my new range of meadow jewellery, and have lots of new ideas for designs, so please watch this space:)
Much love to you all,
Daisy xx

Miniature wild flower meadows in pictures, mirrors, cupboards and jewellery, using real pressed flowers.

Hello, my name is Daisy Windsor and I live in Suffolk, England with my partner Gary, our beautiful daughter Molly, slightly crazy hairy lurcher Banjo, and six rather spoiled rescue hens. I first started working with pressed flowers over 30 years ago, before a change of direction in 1998 to pursue my lifelong dream of singing. My music has taken me to some beautiful parts of the UK, some on my own, some with my band, The Floozies, and a few tours as part of the duo Wytchazle. I am still performing, but having a young child I don't always have the energy for so many late night gigs.
Throughout all of these times one of my biggest loves has been gardening, nature, and a passion for wild flowers. I remember as a child picking cow parsley and being entranced by its intricate beauty. It is still one of my favourite umbellifers. I really want to share that love of wild flowers through my artwork. There is so much beauty all around us if only we stopped to look. Not just in our gardens, but in the hedgerows, on the roadside, in our lawns, it's all there to see if we just look. Nature is in finely attuned balance, we don't just need it, we are part of it. Apart from the beauty of these flowers, there is so much ancient wisdom and healing powers that are being lost to us. Our ancestors knew exactly which plants to turn to for healing. They could forage for wild food, a skill which has been sadly lost by most of the developed world. It makes my heart sing when my 7 year old daughter can identify wild flowers and food from the hedgerows, and we are so fortunate to be part of a community of like minded friends who are passing on this knowledge to their children.
Working with nature is something I feel passionate about. I am at my most content when I am outside, especially in my garden. For over 15 years I lived in buses, vans and a boat. It was wonderful, I loved every minute of it, and always managed to find a way of growing a few plants, veggies, herbs and flowers, even in a tiny space. We went on the road for a couple of years, travelling around in our converted transit van. We spent some time in Spain, foraged for wild mushrooms in France, but I always needed to grow something. Sprouting seeds were my veg garden in such a small space. I still loved our van life, but I needed to grow and put down roots. We decided to make a wish for exactly what we wanted. I said I would like an old cottage, with a walled garden, and a greenhouse. Gary asked for a barn, lots of outbuildings, and a well, Molly asked for blossom trees. Three days later a friend rang to tell us the house next door to her would be coming up for rent soon. It had a large walled garden, a greenhouse, barn, outbuildings, a well, and blossom trees. We were incredibly excited, got the ball rolling straight away and moved in a few weeks later. The garden was full of brambles, rubble and has been a challenge, but it is now a garden, and a haven for wildlife xx

Pressed flowers must be kept out of direct sunlight to preserve their colours. In these conditions you can expect many years of pleasure from these designs with very minimal fading. My Mum has one I made 25 years ago and it still looks beautiful.
