Announcement   24th March Mia my cat, has three three-week old kittens, so I've been very quiet online, doing kitten raising! One is a real escape artist, and all are heart-breakers, like their mum. Those interested, scroll right down and you can see my tiny fluffy scraps of coming trouble!

14th November~2017 I've listed Jamieson's of Shetland Ultra and Ultra Cobweb - yarns that are suitable for 2 ply lace haps and 1 ply shawls - offers of 10% off yarn packs!

1st October~2017 Heirloom Knitting pdfs available from today :-) If you buy or have bought your signed HK copy from me on etsy, then the pdfs will be half price!

Signed copies are available from here and all books bought from me will have a free signed bookmark with ten hand-wound samples of the majority of the yarns featured!

On the personal front, I'm sorry to report further family illnesses are still taking almost all my time and attention, so I'm afraid your queries are suffering too. I'm feeling a bit snowed under at the moment and trying to keep up with orders as my next priority to looking after my poorly ones as best I can. I'm sorry to unavoidably frustrate some folk but know you will understand there are no other options.

As you may have picked up, I've been deep in research now on old wool yarns both US and UK as they are sister yarns - so to understand one is to understand the other - and the vintage yarns of the US have better survived the 'make do and mend' campaigns of WW2, so studying them provides enormous insight into the now lost UK ones ~ only the stuff of vintage patterns for most part.

More HK is being beavered away on slowly too and whatever takes my knitting brain's fancy! I hope all is well with you and yours :-)

"Here is where you will find everything for finest Shetland Lace Knitting. This is a specialist shop, please be patient to allow me to give your order the time it deserves and for me to write further books. Sometimes, I need to specially order in items, and it can take a day or two longer, than the scheduled dispatch day at this time.
PLEASE NOTE - ALL MY WORK IS IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ONLY -
PATTERNS CANNOT BE DELIVERED IN ANOTHER LANGUAGE.
Posting days are normally Tuesday and Friday.

PATTERNS ARE IN ENGLISH ONLY
Pattern pdfs will be personally emailed directly to the buyer from my email address to theirs.

This is NOT an automated Download Service for Digital Items - I do it this way to ensure costs to my customers are kept as low as feasible, so VAT does not need to be applied - this, in broad terms as I understand it (after logged advice from HMRC Customs and Revenue, 29th February 2016) is currently an extra 20-25% in Europe depending on the home country of the customer.

IMPORTANT Information for pdf sales :
Email transmission cannot be guaranteed to be secure, or error free as information could be intercepted, corrupted, lost, destroyed, late in arriving or incomplete as a result of the transmission process. Sharon Miller therefore does not accept liability for any errors or omissions in the contents of messages which arise as a result of email transmission.

Finally, you should check emails and any attachments for viruses. Sharon Miller (trading as Heirloom Knitting) can accept no liability for any damage caused by any virus, etc., transmitted by email. SHIPPING for BOOKS and YARNS
Order as you wish - ignore any scary postage totals doing this,- I will combine the orders placed in the same hour by the same buyer and address, and refund the extra postage :-) - see details from Royal Mail Guide below. I've hunted high and low how to do this better on Etsy, but this is a good workaround.

Note : I am HAPPY to combine mixed yarn orders to take best advantage of rates shown below - please order in the usual way and I will refund the difference, providing the orders are as above, placed in the same hour by the same customer, going to the same address. I buy a lot online too, and appreciate how expensive this can be, especially if the seller won't allow combined shipping.

Large Value (£60+) orders : I will do discounts for Signed For Shipping. Otherwise I always get proof of postage. If you particularly want Signed for Shipping please state this in the Order Notes Box and I will get back to you with the best rate I can arrange - I will need to charge you for this.

Guide to UK Shipping Rates : I need to add up to £1 (yarns) - £2 (books) to cover packaging and other posting costs, I do not inflate my prices and intend this will cover the end of March 2016 increases, when for example, UK 1st Class post will be 2p increase from 63p to 65p - they've not yet said about parcels and I'm hoping it will be the on the same scale.

The following are for Royal Mail First Class Rates for Small Parcels in 2015/16 ~ To these, I will add a minimal cost of packing materials, handling and processing - I need paid help with this, from 55p (small yarn bag) to maximum £2 (£1 for card sleeve, other fees, etc)

UK = £3.40 up to 1 kg ~ you can go mad :-) eg, yarns = £4 with p&p (AKA shipping).
£5.50 up to 2 kg

The following are the bare Royal Mail Rates I pay :

Europe : 100g = £3.80; 250g = £4.10; 500g = £5.80; 750g = £7.20 1kg = £8.60

US &
Canada : 100g = £4.45; 250g = £5.15; 500g = £8.05; 750g = £10.70 1kg = £13.30

Rest of World :
100g = £ 4.80; 250g = £5.60; 500g = £8.70; 750g = £1.40 1kg = £14.05
