Good News! As I've now got all the items together for the Dressing Matters package I'm pleased to say I overestimated shipping (phew), so that means all such physical Dressing Matters book orders will get a refund for that inbuilt bit. I'm also sending every physical book buyer the pdf files and the swatched book-mark!! (As I was making the cards last night it seemed pretty essential that readers could handle the actual yarns.) So I've been able to slash the price and that will have a knock on effect on the additional taxes you've most likely been charged. All orders placed to date will get refunds that honour the new prices. Thank you to everyone who's taken the time to convo and say how useful it's proving!

I'm immensely pleased with this book, the detail is pin sharp and the content for the most part is completely new as this subject has never been explored in detail before. Dressing is so crucial to the success of a lace piece that I believe all lace knitters will be interested, and the option of having 11 working samples of yarn (from c2-5m - depending on width of mounting aperture) will make the package especially useful. I intend to make this card separately available later this month.

Exciing times! I've just sent a book to the printers - Dressing Matters part 1 (60 pages) it will be ready to launch end of next week - all being well... I hate anticipating the colour shifts that can occur...
So, we're cross-eyed with proof-reading, and having major headache inducing shed repairs carried out today - so sorry, orders will be sent out mid next week as our much-loved Sue is having a well deserved holiday.
Kindest wishes
Sharon

****As before:- I'd also like to remind purchasers of large downloads which cannot be auto-downloaded that we are a tiny business. If an order arrives in the UK night-time or at a time when we have to be away for something similarly essential, we cannot send out the links for a few hours. This is explained in the free holding pattern that does auto-download with such purchases. We know you're keen, but it would be appreciated if negative feedback is not left on that account alone!

Research threw this up today - earliest yet known reference to canning food - not normally thought of as being invented till the Napoleonic Wars. Definitely one for QI :
first in the 1677 edition
- page 92
219 "To preserve Fruit all the Year
Put the fruit into a fit case of Tin, and soder (sic) it together, so that no Air can get in ; then lay it at the bottom of a cold Well in Runing water."

talks of the process as if if were widely practised. This is a fascinating little book of interest to cooks and medics - plague medicine even!

THE LEGALS - 4 Important Conditions of Every Sale

THE LEGALS
I'm sorry about these but for us to continue to have insurance this sort of thing seems now essential. The following are about your basic duty as a customer to act responsibly and with due care with the supplied products and information, especially with safety in mind at all times.

IF YOU DO NOT AGREE WITH THESE IN THEIR ENTIRETY YOU HAVE THE RIGHT NOW (date of order) TO INFORM US WITHIN 24 HOURS OF THIS - THE ETSY SALES RECEIPT CONTAINING THIS INFORMATION - AND WE WILL CANCEL THE TRANSACTION AND REFUND ANY MONIES. IF WE DO NOT HEAR FROM YOU AT THE END OF THE 24 HOUR PERIOD WE SHALL PROCEED WITH THE TRANSACTION AS WE WILL ACCEPT THAT YOU AGREED TO COMPLY WITHOUT RESERVATION WITH THE FOLLOWING FOUR (4) CONDITIONS:

1. SAFETY AND USE
It is an essential term of sale that you accept this and the following Limitations of Liability and Indemnification and recognise we would not provide the services or the products to you if you did not accept and honour the following. Inform us NOW within 24 hours if you do not agree and we will refund your money and cancel the transaction.

Sharon Miller trading as 'Heirloom Knitting' has made every effort to ensure that all instructions given in her patterns, pdfs and books together with all the items for sale are accurately described, fit for purpose and safe, and cannot accept liability for any resulting injury, damage or loss to the person or property whether direct or consequential and howsoever arising. The use of products bought or supplied from Heirloom Knitting (books, information, knitting yarn, knitting needles, scissors, sewing needles, pins and any other sewing paraphernalia) is only to be undertaken by responsible adults who IN TURN accept the duty to keep such items away from situations and/or vulnerable persons including children, or animals, where these items could be the cause of any harm or damage - see Limitations of Liability. It is therefore a condition of every sale and of every use that the buyer or IN TURN the end-user craftsperson recognises and accepts the full legal liability for the watchful safeguarding of themselves and others when following directions or using the purchased items.

2. LIMITED WARRANTIES
The information and services, content, materials, products and goods are provided "as is" and "as available" and to the fullest extent allowable under the applicable law we and our suppliers disclaim all warranties, expressed or implied, including - but not limited to, any warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, non-interference, system integration and data accuracy.
If an applicable law requires a warranty for a product or service, all such are limited in duration to NINETY (90) days from date of this, the Etsy-issued Customer Receipt to allow for delivery time to customer.
We do not have access to the financial information you provided to make your payment. We will safeguard and treat as confidential any necessary supplied private information (your name, address, products bought) that you provided and promise never to share such information without your express permission beforehand. However, we cannot indemnify against a future or potential malicious cyber attack so you must assume the security risk for any information you provided in order for us to supply you with the ordered goods and services.

Limitations of Liability
The use of the supplied services and products are at your own risk. The products are NOT intended for use by children or vulnerable adults. You as the purchaser have a duty to use them and to ensure that they are used with due and responsible adult regard to safety and the potential for the items to be (i) the unintentional cause of accidental injury or damage or (ii) misused to cause such injury or damage.
It is the essential condition of sale that you accept the unreserved undertaking to keep any supplied goods away from vulnerable persons, children or animals, or situations where the items could be the cause (intended or accidental) of any harm, injury or damage. In no event will we or our suppliers be liable for any such injury or damage whether indirect, incidental, consequential or other in connection with the supplied goods, the supplied services or these terms whether or not such injury or damage was likely or foreseeable.

In no event will the aggregate liability to you for any and all claims arising in connection with these terms, the products and services exceed either (i) $250, OR (ii) the total value of orders placed in the last NINETY (90) days - whichever is the greater.

Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, hold harmless and, at our option, defend Sharon Miller trading as 'Heirloom Knitting' from and against all damages, claims, demands, liabilities, costs and expenses, including reasonable Attorneys' Fees resulting from any violation by you of these terms or applicable law.

3. EMAILS AND ELECTRONIC FILES
Pattern pdfs will be personally emailed directly to the buyer from our email address to theirs. They are not to be distributed without permission from Sharon Miller. An email and any files transmitted with it are confidential and intended solely for the individual to whom they are addressed. If you have received them in error, you should not disseminate or copy the email. Please notify Sharon Miller immediately and delete it from your system.
The sale of pattern pdfs by us is NOT an automated Download Service for Digital Items - we do it this way to ensure costs for our customers are kept as low as feasible - as VAT does not then need to be applied. This, in broad terms (after logged advice from HMRC Customs and Revenue, 29th February 2016) is currently an extra 20-25% in Europe depending on the home country of the customer.

We can not warrant that your use of our service will be uninterrupted or error-free or malware-free or virus-free. You will be solely responsible for any damage to your computer equipment or data loss that may result. Regardless of this or any sale, you are advised to make and maintain frequent back-up copies of your user content. Email transmission cannot be guaranteed to be secure, or error free as information could be intercepted, corrupted, lost, destroyed, late in arriving or incomplete as a result of the transmission process. Sharon Miller therefore does not accept liability for any errors or omissions in the contents of messages which arise as a result of email transmission.
Finally, you agree to check emails and any attachments for viruses. It is recommended that you actively protect all your confidential and personal information, including that sent by email, and suggest that you consider the advice on the getsafeonline website (getsafeonline.org).

4. IMPORTANT
It is an essential condition of sale that you read and accept this and the above Conditions and the Indemnification and recognise we SHALL NOT THEN provide the services or the products to you if you do not agree to accept and honour them in full.

I've hunted high and low how to do this better on Etsy, but this is a good workaround. I always get proof of postage with all sent items.

Note : I am HAPPY to combine mixed yarn orders to take best advantage of rates shown.
