5 out of 5 starsSo happy with this shop. The seller is lovely and changed the order to two different types of Gingerbread men. I asked for them to be sent direct to my friend with a little note, thinking she might just write it on a bit of paper, and instead she printed the note onto a tag and tied it together beautifully. Then sent them off quickly to my friend, who was delighted with them. They look great quality and I'm looking forward to seeing them myself when I next see her. Highly recommended!

It all started with teddy bears....
When she was a little girl, Dawn James' dad told her that teddy bears come alive at night when everyone is sleeping. Thus started a lifelong love of bears, leading eventually to Dawn becoming an award-winning bear artist, selling her creations all over the world. Dawn loves searching for interesting accessories and vintage fabrics to use with her dressed bears, and has been known to design and make a bear based entirely on one small prop she found in a market or at an antique fair.
Later, Dawn broadened her repertoire to include embroidered and appliqued bags and cushions, many made from the beautiful vintage velvets and antique lace she has collected. Her most recent addition has been a range of beautiful embroidered earrings.
Dawn's husband, Chris Elliott, has always enjoyed sketching and painting, but has found it difficult to make the time for his hobby, especially in recent years when his job as an IT contractor has meant long periods of working away from home. However, having made the decision to give up his job and join Dawn in Hugs Unlimited, he has made a start making greetings cards and other papercraft.
Dawn and Chris are currently working on several interesting new projects including a range of new embroidery designs. Watch this space!
NEWS!! In October 2017, Dawn's bears won the URSA Major Best In Competition Award at this year's URSA Awards. The URSAs are International Bear Artists' Awards given annually since 2006. Dawn is the first UK bear artist to win the URSA Major Award.

Like Dawn, I love nature and wildlife, as well as the fascinating mix of rural and industrial landscapes of Yorkshire, where we live. Add in a love of fantasy, steampunk and a bit of gentle silliness and that probably sums up the ideas for my work.
