Inglenookery

Stylish vintage and antique European jewellery

Salisbury, England · 1109 Sales

Announcement   I sell stylish vintage and antique jewellery, mostly European, mostly silver, and from all sorts of periods. I currently have a large selection of Scandinavian silver in my shop.

In my shop you will find Victorian, Art Nouveau, Arts and Crafts, Skønvirke, Jugendstil, and Art Deco pieces, plus Scandinavian silver and more recent vintage pieces: rings, bracelets, brooches, necklaces, pendants, earrings, and more. My basic rule of thumb is if I love it and I'd want it for myself, I'll sell it!

I love tracking special pieces down, so if you are after a piece by a particular maker or of a particular style or period or material, do let me know, and I'll see what I can come up with.

If your country isn't listed, please contact me for a shipping quote.

About

Inglenookery: stylish vintage and antique European jewellery.

Inglenookery is named after the big inglenook fireplace that dominates the living room of our old cottage in Wiltshire, England, and that is the heart of our home. Come the winter, we're all jostling for position around the woodburning stove ...

I live with my lovely (and long-suffering) partner and our two cats. Over the years I have done many jobs, including theatre usher, bookshop worker, editorial assistant, and mostly archaeologist: I worked on digs in the Middle East for several years, for one of the UK's largest archaeological units, for the National Trust, and as a freelancer. Now I am an archaeological researcher who only very occasionally does fieldwork (dodgy knees and even dodgier back means I can’t mattock and shovel like I used to), and a proofreader and copy editor, again mainly to do with archaeological publications.

I am very lucky that I was able to make one of my main interests, gardening, into a part-time career for a while. I designed several gardens, one of which made it into the National Gardens Scheme's Yellow Book, and I worked as a freelance gardening journalist, writing for The English Garden.

Another of my interests led me to open this Etsy shop. Even though I don’t wear jewellery myself, I have always been fascinated by sparkly and lovely things, and so I sell antique and vintage jewellery and other bits and bobs that catch my eye. My basic rule of thumb is if I love it, I'll try to get it for my shop, in the hope that other people will love it too.

I have a blog where I write about anything that catches my attention: Alan Rickman's breeches, volcanoes, peacock wrangling, Tuna Turner (not that's not a typo - at least here it's not), cocktails named after marine reserves, favourite Etsy shops, a naked Johnny Depp making some middle-aged ladies very happy, recipes, history, planet-naming schoolgirls, wildlife, and of course cats .... whatever grabs me. Do drop by! It's at www.inglenookery.com

Returns and exchange details
I want you to be absolutely delighted with your purchase, and I want us to have a fair and equitable business relationship.

I research the items thoroughly, take detailed photographs and always try my utmost to provide honest and accurate descriptions. The photographs form part of the item description and should be studied closely. I can provide additional photographs if required. If you have any questions please contact me prior to purchase and I will try to answer any queries you may have.

The item listed is always the item you will receive. I wrap and package items very carefully. I do not offer a gift wrapping service, but pieces usually are wrapped in tissue paper and come in a decorative box.

►RETURNS:
I accept returns if you notify me within 14 days of receiving your item, and send the item back within 14 days after the date that you notified me (shipping times may vary). Items must be in the same condition as you received them. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value. I will not accept returned items that have been altered in any way. The item must be in its original gift box.

The buyer must pay return shipping costs with tracking, and receives full refund for the item only. Original (delivery) shipping is not refundable unless the buyer is in the EU and/or Inglenookery was at fault. Postage upgrades are not refunded, only the basic postage rate. More details of consumer law, as applicable to buyers within the EU, are available here:

http://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/shopping/guarantees-returns/index_en.htm

The buyer is responsible for packaging returned items safely and securely, so that they are not damaged in transit. The buyer is responsible if such damage occurs.

Once I have received the item back and have checked that it is in its original condition, I will then issue the refund. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.

►DAMAGED:
Please send me photographs of the item and all packaging so I can fill out a postal claim, and then return the item to me. A full refund will be given including original shipping.

►UNDELIVERABLE:
Items that are returned to me as undeliverable will be reshipped at the buyer's expense. If the buyer decides they do not require the item after it has been returned to me, I will refund just the purchase price of the item, minus the original shipping costs plus any shipping / customs costs I have had to pay for its return.
Payment
I accept payment through debit and credit cards, Paypal, and Etsy gift tokens.

Paypal payments: please note I can only send items to the address specified on the Paypal invoice, so please check that your correct address is indicated in the Paypal address field when ordering.
Shipping
Each item has its own individual price for postage and packing, as the price will vary depending on the size, weight and value of each item, as well as its destination.

Normally I will dispatch all items between 1 and 3 working days from receiving payment for the item. Very occasionally I am away from my shop and unable to ship as quickly: please check my shop announcement which will have details of any such instances.

Please be aware that I have no control over the time the item will spend with the postal carriers (and with customs for international orders) or how long it will take for items to arrive at their destination.

If you have special requirements for shipping, such as an upgrade, please contact me before purchasing, so that I can make sure the correct price is charged. If you wish for a different method of delivery or delivery provider, please contact me for a quote before you purchase.

Any customs, import taxes or other charges are the responsibility of the customer. Please be aware of your country's policies.

For combined purchases I refund the postage and packing overages.

►Shipping methods:

Items worth £38.00 or less are usually sent by 1st class small package delivery in the UK, and by International small package standard delivery to the rest of the world.

Items worth more than £38.00 are usually sent within the UK by Royal Mail Signed For delivery or Royal Mail Special Delivery, and international orders are sent by Royal Mail International Tracked, or Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed delivery (which of these services is specified in each individual item details listing). The delivery methods mentioned in this paragraph all have a unique tracking reference number which I will let you know. There are a few exceptions to this: please see individual listing descriptions.

I offer upgrades to Royal Mail within-UK services: you can add these at checkout.

►Delivery times, within the UK:

Royal Mail items sent within the UK are all mailed by 1st class post, and Royal Mail aims to deliver the next working day (apart from post mailed on a Saturday, when delivery will not likely be until the Tuesday), although this is not guaranteed. Royal Mail will not consider an item lost until 15 working days have passed since the item was due to be delivered (10 working days for Special Delivery items).

Royal Mail Special Delivery next day service of course depends on the time of day you place your order: if it is later in the day, after 2 pm UK time, I will not be able to process the order and get it to the post office in time for that day's collection, and so I will post it the next day and delivery will not be until the day after that.

Royal Mail Special Delivery next day orders placed on a Friday will not reach their destination until the Monday, unless you have paid the shipping upgrade for the additional fee that Royal Mail charges for Saturday deliveries.

►Delivery times, international (ie outside the UK):

Royal Mail items sent internationally may take up to 6-8 weeks to arrive, or even longer if the item is held up in customs, even though Royal Mail aims to deliver to Europe within 3-5 working days and to rest of the world within 5-7 working days. Royal Mail will not consider an item lost until at least 20 working days (for items posted to Europe) or 25 working days (for items to the rest of the world) have passed from the due delivery date. Accordingly, I will not consider items lost or make refunds for non-delivery until this period has passed.

►General notes:

Please contact me for shipping rates to your country, if it is not listed, and I will get a quote for you.

Thank you for your custom.
Privacy
This Privacy Policy describes how and when I collect, use, and share information when you purchase an item from me, contact me, or otherwise use my services through Etsy.com or its related sites and services.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that I do not own or control, including Etsy or any third party services you access through Etsy.

1. Personal information I collect
To fulfil your order, you provide me with certain information (which you authorised Etsy to provide to me), such as your name, email address, postal address, payment amount information (though I do not receive account details from Etsy), and the details of the product that you’re ordering. You may also choose to provide me with additional personal information if you contact me directly.

2. Why I need your information and how I use it
I rely on a number of legal bases to collect, use, and share your information, including:

►as needed to provide my services, such as when I use your information to fulfil your order, to settle disputes, or to provide customer support;
►when you have provided your affirmative consent, which you may revoke at any time, such as by signing up for my mailing list (if I had one, which I don't);
►if necessary to comply with a legal obligation or court order or in connection with a legal claim, such as retaining information about your purchases if required by tax law; and
►as necessary for the purpose of my legitimate interests, if those legitimate interests are not overridden by your rights or interests, such as 1) providing and improving my services. I use your information to provide the services you requested and in my legitimate interest to improve my services; and 2) Compliance with the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use. I use your information as necessary to comply with my obligations under the Etsy Seller Policy and Terms of Use.

3. Information sharing and disclosure
Information about my customers is important to my business. I share your personal information for very limited reasons and in limited circumstances, as follows:

►Etsy. I share information with Etsy as necessary to provide you my services and comply with my obligations under both the Etsy Seller Policy and Etsy Terms of Use.
►Service providers. I engage certain trusted third parties to perform functions and provide services to my shop, such as delivery companies (almost always Royal Mail). I will share your personal information with these third parties, but only to the extent necessary to perform these services.
►Business transfers. If I sell or merge my business, I may disclose your information as part of that transaction, only to the extent permitted by law.
►Compliance with laws. I may collect, use, retain, and share your information if I have a good faith belief that it is reasonably necessary to: (a) respond to legal process or to government requests; (b) enforce my agreements, terms and policies; (c) prevent, investigate, and address fraud and other illegal activity, security, or technical issues; or (d) protect the rights, property, and safety of my customers, or others.

4. Data retention
I retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to provide you with my services and as described in my Privacy Policy. However, I may also be required to retain this information to comply with my legal, tax and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, and to enforce my agreements. I generally keep your data for a six-year time period (to comply with the record-keeping requirements of HMRC).

5. Transfers of personal information outside the EU
I may store and process your information through third-party hosting services in the US and other jurisdictions. As a result, I may transfer your personal information to a jurisdiction with different data protection and government surveillance laws than your jurisdiction. If I am deemed to transfer information about you outside the EU, I rely on Privacy Shield as the legal basis for the transfer, as Google Cloud is Privacy Shield certified.

6. Your rights
If you reside in certain territories, including the EU, you have a number of rights in relation to your personal information. While some of these rights apply generally, certain rights apply only in certain limited cases. I describe these rights below:

►Access. You may have the right to access and receive a copy of the personal information I hold about you by contacting me using the contact information below.
►Change, restrict, delete. You may also have rights to change, restrict my use of, or delete your personal information. Absent exceptional circumstances (like where I am required to store data for legal reasons) I will generally delete your personal information upon request.
►Object. You can object to (i) my processing of some of your information based on my legitimate interests and (ii) receiving marketing messages from me after providing your express consent to receive them. In such cases, I will delete your personal information unless I have compelling and legitimate grounds to continue using that information or if it is needed for legal reasons.
►Complain. If you reside in the EU and wish to raise a concern about my use of your information (and without prejudice to any other rights you may have), you have the right to do so with your local data protection authority.

7. How to contact me
For purposes of EU data protection law, I am the data controller of your personal information. If you have any questions or concerns, you may contact me via the Etsy convo system.
