Note from shop owner The Inky shop is now closed for a while as I get ready to launch a new range of products. Exciting!

I have now stopped printing greeting cards, but there are a handful left available on my website at inkyandthebeast.com

Thanks so much for your support - I hope you like my new paraphernalia too :)

About

How I Became a Letterpress Printer

I was visiting a Crafty Fox Market in Brixton back in 2013 and spent all of five minutes doing a letterpress taster with Rachel from Prickle Press, to print my own postcard.

I went home and waxed lyrical to my husband about how much fun and easy (ha, little did I know) it had been, and, ridiculous man that he is, he promptly went online and bought me an Adana 8x5 on eBay for Christmas!

I spent the next few months on a steep learning curve (and spending all my money on paper, ink, lead and wood type), and by August 2014 found myself giving letterpress taster sessions to other people at the Print Isn't Dead magazine launch in London.

After a year of working from my spare room with the Adana I was lucky enough to find a nearby studio and large motorised Vicobold press for let, so I could start doing much more challenging prints and creating new designs.

When the Vic was put up for sale, I knew I had to buy it. I was a little short on funds so I ran a Kickstarter campaign through August 2015 and successfully raised enough money to buy the Vic and set up a new studio in Clapham Junction.

I now run regular letterpress workshops and print from my studio surrounded by beautiful antique presses and plenty of cake.

Hi! I'm Jen, the Printer and Designer behind Inky Collective. I print using both a table top Adana 8x5 and a large, motorised Vicobold in my London studio. I love creating colourful stationery that people pick up and go "Ooh. Now, that's nice."
