Where In rainbows began....

I've always worked in the creative industry; working with schools and communities for 9 years on various art projects, including printmaking and carnival to name a few.

During my quieter periods of freelancing I've always made a few bits and bobs but never thought that I had found my niche. ....UNTIL I decided to go along to a local crochet club once a week as part of a festival that was running. Once I finally learnt how to make a granny square by watching numerous amounts you tube videos I then took part in the yarn bombing exhibition held in Barry, South Wales (my home town). For my contribution I yarn bombed a lamp.
I then went on to experiment with making crochet blankets which I really enjoyed and then I finally learnt how to read a pattern after receiving a lovely craft book for Christmas from my auntie which included some really cute crochet patterns. CROCHET BECAME ADDICTIVE!
I began following patterns and making crochet toys but then realised that they all have to be CE tested (please read up on this if you are making toys yourselves). The thought of this took the enjoyment out of making for me. So after two months of travelling in Asia and a fresh mind I came up with the idea of making taxidermy crochet, animal heads. With all the experience of following patterns I had gained enough knowledge to write my own patterns which made my new venture even more exciting.
I love making quirky colourful items, I even began making felt versions in the Summer of 2015 as I also love to hand sew and to use my sewing machine.
I now pretty much crochet everyday, either for a bit of wind down time or for work. I'm not sure what I did with my time before I found crochet.
