I am Irena living and working in a small, beautiful country of Georgia, (Sakartvelo), in southern Caucasus. I live in the city of Tbilisi with my family. My background is the history of arts, so it makes me happy to spend hours talking to my students about art both at a secondary school and a contemporary art studio. Also, I am thrilled to have my little paradise corner, IrenDesign Handmade since 2013, where I put my heart and soul into creating handcrafted jewelry and gifts.
I have always loved being creative and making things. When my son was 5, he got interested in clay sculpting and insisted on getting some "coloured" clay. We found coloured polymer clay on the internet. When I saw the material, I thought - "I could work with that! " It would be a fun way for me to have a creative outlet. After some thought, I bought Fimo polymer clay and took online masterclasses to begin creating at my little home workshop.
I think polymer clay is a magical material that has endless possibilities. I branded my works as IrenDesign Handmade and started selling them in Georgia.
Being an art historian, my inspiration often comes from the works of my favourite artists. Hence, every single piece is a reflection of my inner feelings, imagination and state of mind. Colors, details and fragments from the works of famous painters transform into jewelry design, and are reflected on necklaces, pendants, earrings and rings.
My works speak of me best: they talk about who I am, what I like and what enriches me spiritually: painting, history, literature, music, decorative arts, people around me, as well as objects and emotions related to them.
I am glad to have discovered that my works touched the hearts of many people. I was first pleasantly surprised that a small collection of my works travelled to Japan. I get orders of jewelry as wedding and birthday gifts. It makes me happy to see that people identify themselves with the topics/themes I choose for my works.
I am more than happy to share my works to a wider audience here at Etsy. I hope you enjoy visiting my shop.
Thank you.
