About

Contemporary landscape and seascape art, inspired by Yorkshire and beyond

Welcome to my shop! I am a contemporary visual artist and my work is the expression of a lifelong affinity with the landscape. I work in a range of media such as oil, acrylic, charcoal, graphite, pastel, collage and monoprint. Living on the North Yorkshire coast of the UK I am surrounded by beautiful moors, woodland and coastline - these natural environments are a constant inspiration to my work. Sketches created directly in the landscape form the basis of my studio work. My influences include Joan Eardley, Abstract Expressionism and Cornish art.

The conservation of our landscape is hugely important to me. Since 2006 I have been a volunteer for the North York Moors National Park Authority, working on tasks such as tree planting and butterfly habitat management. As I take so much enjoyment and inspiration from the landscape it's nice to give something back and help safeguard it's future. I also regularly take part in beach cleans, and environmental and animal welfare campaigns.

I have exhibited extensively across the UK, including with the Royal Academy of Arts, the Society of Women Artists, and the Pastel Society UK, London. I have been honoured to receive prestigious awards for my work, such as The Arts Club Charitable Trust Award in 2014, the Haworth Prize in 2015, and the Unison Colour Young Artist Award in 2016, all at the Mall Galleries, London. In 2017 I was delighted to be elected a member of the Pastel Society in London. I have work in private collections in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Sardinia, Africa and Mexico.

If you have any questions about my working processes please get in touch and I'd be happy to tell you more about how I create my artwork. I also take commissions - please contact me to discuss if you have something in mind. Often with commissions, I find it useful to know which of my works the customer likes most, so that I can use these as a base for colours and style when working on the commission.
