About

Felt Maker | Artist - I produce unique felt art and felt tea cosies inspired by landscapes and nature.

I have loved Arts and crafts as far back as I can remember. As a child I was always creating or making something. I followed an education in the Arts, achieving a Degree in Fine Art Painting and Drawing and a P.G.C.E. in Secondary Art and Design before training as a Web Designer. I started working as a web designer in year 2000 and loved it. Designing for over ten years, working for some great clients such as Microsoft, York City Council, Leeds City Council, La Redoute just to name a few. I loved being a web designer but when my first child was born I chose to become a stay at home mum.

In 2015 I went on a wet felt making course and my passion for felt art and felt tea cosies began. I surprised myself when the very first tea cosy I made had a landscape design on it. I realised this was a way I could get back to my creative roots and produce landscapes again but instead of using oils and acrylic paint (as I did at university) I could use wool.

Ever since then I have been designing and making landscape felt tea cosies and felt art works . While traveling the world and walking in the local countryside I have taken countless photographs of landscapes and nature, I am now drawing upon this library to inspire new designs for my art.

Friends have described my felt tea cosies as 'works of art', which is fantastic as I wished to bring the creative process of drawing and painting to my felt making. To produce a functional item that is both practical and beautiful.

I work from home in my kitchen, as the wet felt making process is well – wet! I work on a little table that I can wheel into the kitchen. As I stand and create my wet felt work I can look out the window over our garden and the trees beyond, listening to 6 music. It is a lovely part of my day and thoroughly absorbing.

Thank you for visiting my shop, hope you have enjoyed looking at my work. If you have any questions feel free to ask.

  • Square Studios

    Harrogate, England

Square Studios scan my original felt artwork to produce my giclee prints. The prints are produced using Ultrachrome inks giving a light fastness in excess of 75 years. A giclee (zhee-clay) print is a high quality art print.

    Saltaire, England

The Dandy Arthouse transform my artwork into bespoke greeting cards. Their cards are printed on FSC certified, 270gsm quality card, which has a silk finish on the outside and a matte finish on the inside.

Care instructions

Felted wool is naturally dirt and odour repellent so unlikely to need washing. But if you do spill something on it give it a shake off and dab with a clean cloth. If it needs a wash just hand wash in cool water, rinse and press between 2 towels to remove excess water, reshape and dry naturally. DO NOT use a washing machine or tumble dry.

Custom and personalised orders

If you have a landscape you love and would like me to do a felt tea cosy of it please get in touch and send me the picture of the landscape you like.

Please note the landscapes I re-create are artistic impressions of the landscape and not an exact copy of the landscape. So it will end up having a look and feel of the landscape but not a copy of it.

I'll give you an estimate of the time it will take to produce at the time. But as a guide allow 2 weeks to create plus delivery time to your country.

Cost: £75 upfront | None-refundable
