Helping nature lovers, feel the freedom, beauty and magic of the great outdoors in their homes, through my emotive fine art landscape paintings.

Fibre Artist Janine Jacques has a love of nature and beautiful landscapes which began at a young age. Having grown up on a Lincolnshire farm, she kept many animals including a small flock of sheep and now her main medium of choice is wool.

Janine’s work combines her training in painting with the ancient art of felt-making to celebrate and bring together the different skills of wet felting, needle felting and sewing. She uses wool to ‘paint’ with, needle felting to refine the detail, a sewing machine for a drawn line and embellishes with hand embroidery.

Janine’s statement pieces are created using many different materials. Her fibre artwork is inspired by photographs of the landscapes she has visited throughout her life and travels and recorded for future inspiration. Each piece is unique, evoking memories of a past time and place.

Before starting a new piece, Janine puts together a mood board from her archive. These are used to compose the felt artwork, combining elements together: a moody sky from one, a landscape from another or local flowers from another. These are put together in sketches for the final composition. There is an element of play at this point as she may decide to enlarge a foreground feature, shrink it down, push it into the background or simply take it out. The final pieces are not simply a recording of the scene but a rich and multi-layered portrayal of a colourful world of painterly mark-making, at once defying and celebrating their materials in honour of the subjects she depicts.

Janine graduated from university with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art, painting and drawing. She gained a P.G.C.E. in Secondary Art Education and worked for many years in web design before returning to the studio to follow her passion in art. She now teaches felt making workshops in West Yorkshire. These can be found on her 'Events' tab on her Facebook page @janinejacquesart.

She now lives and works in Yorkshire - within easy reach of the beautiful countryside.

    Owner, Maker

    If it wasn't for my love of tea, I'd still be a web designer working for Microsoft. After seeing a felt tea cosy in a craft shop I went on a wet felting workshop to make my own. I loved felting. This was the start of my journey as a Felt Artist.

Production partners

  • Square Studios

    Harrogate, England

    Square Studios scan my original felt artwork to produce my giclee prints. The prints are produced using Ultrachrome inks giving a light fastness in excess of 75 years. A giclee (zhee-clay) print is a high quality art print.

  • The Dandy Arthouse

    Saltaire, England

    The Dandy Arthouse transform my artwork into bespoke greeting cards. Their cards are printed on FSC certified, 270gsm quality card, which has a silk finish on the outside and a matte finish on the inside.

Care instructions

Felted wool is naturally dirt and odour repellent so unlikely to need washing. But if you do spill something on it give it a shake off and dab with a clean cloth. If it needs a wash just hand wash in cool water, rinse and press between 2 towels to remove excess water, reshape and dry naturally. DO NOT use a washing machine or tumble dry.

Custom and personalised orders

If you have a landscape you love and would like me to do a felt landscape painting please get in touch and send me the picture of the landscape you like.

Please note the landscapes I re-create are artistic impressions of the landscape and not an exact copy of the landscape. So it will end up having a look and feel of the landscape but not a copy of it.

I'll give you an estimate of cost and the time it will take to produce at the time. But as a guide allow at least 4 weeks to create plus extra time for delivery to your country.

If you live in the UK I am happy to offer framing to - please see the FAQ below on framing.

Mounting Art Prints

I post prints without a mount. Why? Basically it will cost more to post a print with a mount than without. This cost I would have to add to the price of the print + mount. It's therefore more cost effective for you to buy a frame including a mount online than buying a mount from myself.

My small prints are 7"x7" (square)I have also signed and numbered each print. I would advise buying a square frame 12"x12" with inner mount size 8"x8" to accomodate the signature.

My standard prints are 10"x10" (square) I have also signed and numbered each print. I would advise buying a square frame 16"x16" with inner mount size 11"x11" to accomodate the signature.

Please contact me if you would like an art print framed for you. See FAQ on Framing below.

If you live in the UK and would like me to get an art print framed / Or an original framed for you I can do this. I work with local framers and have established a frame type/style that I always frame my artwork in as follows.

Art Prints:-
* white wood grained frame
* white mount
* perspex instaed of glass for posting

Original Felt Art:-
* white wood grained frame
* white wooden grained mount to match the frame
* spacer between the felt and the glass
* UV museum quality glass

Original Oil Pastel Art:-
