About

Can you make me a toffee hairslide?

I was reminded last year by my eldest son about the time when I used to make hairslides from sweets - jelly babies etc and sell them at school fetes. I had quite forgotton but quickly - after some serious nudging from said son - threw myself into it again.

My first few efforts were to say the least hopeless but after a lot of practice I'm making little items to be proud of. I never thought that I would be so engrossed in making tiny fimo food - it is literally taking over my life but with the stresses of everday life , making these tiny items makes me very happy indeed.

I make most of my jewellery from fimo but increasingly I like to work with little beads, silver and glass. I guess that all these processes are organic and nothing is out of bounds - you are only truly held back by your imagination - or lack thereof :)

Welcome to my little world of jewellery. I make each piece myself mostly from high quality polymer clay and try to get each little item as realistic as possible. I try and use nickel free silver plate where possible as I have a nickel allergy myself and know how frustrating it can be to find a pair of earrings only to want to abandon after half an hour! I will also pop any pair of earrings onto a solid silver ear wire if asked ( I do find that they are not so strong however ) and will have a go at making almost anything - just ask.

I don't make cats however - I have tried...the ears fell off.
