Note from shop owner I want to apologise for the fact that my store is still in holiday mode. Some of you may know that I have been suffering from depression for about the last year. It's making some things difficult to deal with, and I've got to be honest and say right now, one of those things is dealing with orders. The thought of counting beads and putting together kits is more than I can deal with at the moment. I will be back, I don't plan on shutting this store longterm. I just don't know when I'm afraid. And I apologise to those who are wanting my pattern or kit. I hope you'll understand.

About

Welcome to Jewellery by Janine, thanks for stopping by.

All my jewellery featured in my Etsy shop is hand crafted by myself, Janine Learner, in my home in the UK.

I started making jewellery several years ago but found myself really limited by my self-taught skills so early in 2013 I did a couple of courses to teach me what I couldn't teach myself and I haven't stopped making things since. My stash of beads and findings are overflowing their boxes and I find I desperately need to keep making new things so that I can find space for the beads and bits I can't help but buy nearly every day.

Although I make a variety of jewellery pieces, the bulk of my jewellery makes are pieces based on the ancient Japanese art of Kumihimo braiding and I would love to make you something beautiful using this technique.

Many of my Kumihimo pieces can be made to order to make sure that they fit your wrist. If you're buying for a gift and don't know the size of the wrist of the person you're buying for then I can make it a little smaller than normal and use a lobster clasp and an extension chain so that it will fit any size wrist. Some of my Kumihimo bracelets will be listed as readymade and the size will be in the description and they are ready to be shipped as soon as you order. Kumihimo bracelets that will be made to order will take a few days but we can discuss a timeframe when you enquire about a custom piece.

I am happy to take on custom orders, please do get in touch if you have an idea for something different or would like something similar to one of my existing pieces.

I have lots more jewellery available to view on my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/JewelleryByJanine, some of which has been made to order or sold or just made for myself but can be made again to order. Please do take a look, most things on there can be listed on here on request.

I am a 40-something single parent and my jewellery-making adventures started in 2013 when I found an outlet for my creativity that fulfilled me. I consider this to be an adventure while I'm still learning new techniques and trying out new things.

Returns and exchanges
You are welcome to cancel your order for a full refund at any time, I want you to be happy with your purchase. Please see my Terms and Conditions below for more information.

The only exception to this would be items made with a specific name or special message on it that would not be able to be remade or resold because of the personalisation. Refunds can unfortunately not be made in this case.

Refunds will cover the original purchase cost and the cost of shipping the item to you. The cost of returning an item to me will not be refunded.
Payment
I am now able to take payment both by Direct Payment using a credit or debit card or via Paypal, both payment methods are welcome.

Please see my Terms and Conditions below for more information on my policies.
Shipping
Orders for finished jewellery, kits or findings will usually be posted out within 2 to 3 working days of purchase and payment. If there is a delay for any reason I will let you know as soon as possible.

Orders for custom made pieces will take a bit longer for obvious reasons. I will discuss a timeframe for delivery with you when we discuss the details of your order.

Standard UK postage will be via Royal Mail First Class. A Special Delivery upgrade option is available at checkout. Sterling Silver Kumihimo Bracelets made to order are sent via Special Delivery as standard due to their value.

International orders will be sent by Royal Mail International Standard (the new name for Airmail) which unfortunately does not offer a tracking method. I do offer an International Tracked & Signed for option which you can select on checkout and costs a bit extra.

In the case of non-receipt, I will do my best to track the package (if that method is available to me). If it is clear that your item has gone missing in transit I will either refund you if I am not able to replace it, or I will remake it for you as necessary.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are buying from outside the EU you may be subject to customs and import duty as I am UK based. I am not responsible for these charges and it is your responsibility to check what you may be charged by your country's customs before purchasing as it is not possible for me to know what each country's rules are in this matter and there is no way for it to be charged or paid for in advance.
Additional policies and FAQs
Jewellery by Janine's Terms and Conditions - Dated 12/06/14

Payment is required up front for all purchases please. No pieces will be made or posted out until payment has been received unless special arrangements have been made.

When commissioning a custom item I will let you know during our discussions what I envisage the timeframe will be for completion. Sometimes I will need to buy in beads or components and I may be at the mercy of my own suppliers but I will always keep you informed if there are any delays and I will always try to get your items made or sent to you as quickly as possible. Usually items already made will be posted to you within 2 to 3 working days and made to order items within 7 to 10 days, but if I think it will take longer than that I will let you know and I will generally give you an idea of timeframes when we discuss your purchase. I will always send a dispatch email so that you know it's on its way.

The most important thing for me is that you're happy with your purchase from me, whether that be an item you're buying that I've already made or something I'm making especially for you. If you buy something or commission me to make something, you are welcome to cancel that order at any time. EU law states that customers have 14 days to change their mind but I wont make you stick to that, you can cancel at any time. If the piece of jewellery I've sent you doesn't fit, the colour or finish is not what you were expecting, or you simply don't like it or you change your mind, just let me know and I will be happy to receive it back and refund you the cost of the item and any shipping costs you paid me to get it to you when I receive the item back. Any costs incurred to send it back to me will be your own I'm afraid. If you would like to cancel your order and return something to me please contact me either via a message on this website, via my facebook page or by email, my contact details are below. The only exception to this would be if I made something that has a name or other personalised message on it that then can't be reused or resold, in that case I'm afraid you would not be able to cancel and get a refund. This is in accordance with the latest Distance Selling Regulations.

As all the items I sell are hand crafted, sometimes things do break, and components like glass beads can chip or break, so do please take care with your jewellery. Wear and tear is fairly normal and items can become marked or discoloured, especially if they come into contact with perfume or water. If the marking or wear is very bad please do get in touch with me and I will do my best to fix the problem. Clasps that get badly tarnished can be easily replaced, but some parts can't be changed or replaced easily so it will depend on what the problem is as to what I can do to fix it. Of course if something does break due to my workmanship I will of course fix or replace it at no charge to yourself. Just get in touch as soon as possible and let me know (contact details below).

If you have any other queries or concerns please do get in touch with me by email or message me via this website and I will do my best to help you.
