Traditional Baltic amber teething necklaces, born out of my passion for birth, beautiful leather journal covers, born out of my passion for life!

I have journalled since I could write. I write, draw, paint, laugh, pray, dream and cry into my journals, I love them, and I love the Midori traveller's notebook style of journalling. I love to make leather journal covers knowing that they will be soft places to fall for people for the length of their lives. I love to visit my leather merchant, feeling the soft, thick, strong hides and choosing the ones that will make my fauxdoris. I like beautiful things, but I love it best when beauty and functionality work together.
I work with mums and babies as a doula, breastfeeding support worker, and maternity reflexologist. I would see little ones wearing traditional amber beads to help with teething. This tradition originates from Eastern Europe where Baltic amber is found. I wished that I had known about the properties of amber when my children were little. When my granddaughter came along I decided to make her a necklace of her own, and I loved making it so much that made a few more and haven't stopped since.
Life has shown me the value of positive intention and thought in keeping healthy, and I work by the saying of Robbie Davis Floyd:
'if you intervene at the level of energy, then you don't have to intervene at the level of physiology or technology'
So, the gentle approach is powerful! To this end, I use wonderful, amazing beautiful special genuine Baltic amber beads to create teething necklaces for little ones and beautiful jewellery for their mamas. Anyone can benefit from using amber.
My middle son bought me some beautiful rudraksha beads and other pretties back from a trip out east, and I wondered what to do with them. Anyhoo he and his love emigrated to the far east, and as a parting gift I made him a mala with the beads he had bought me. I love journalling, prayer, yoga, soul nourishment and good intentions and using my mala to meditate on my intentions, and from this, I began to make malas for my friends my little shop grew from there. The revenue from this shop goes to support my family, and allows me to volunteer my time in breastfeeding drop-in clinics, as well as my work as a reflexologist and doula. Thank you so much for supporting small businesses like mine <3

I'm a doula, a mum of 5 lovely peeps, nana of two little honeys, who loves to journal, make journals and string beads. I like things that are made from natural traditional materials that feel and smell good, and are both functional, and beautiful.

Welcome to my little beads and journals shop!

I carefully select whole skins from various leather merchants around the country to make my journal covers. I choose skins that feel divine and show character and life in the form of variations in texture, healing scars and insect bites. These skins are durable, but tender. They will mark, scar and patina and this is not a fault, but a thing of beauty!

I source my genuine Baltic amber from Poland, and my barrel clasps from Lithuania. The barrel clasps are designed to break open easily under pressure, for safety. Baltic amber started out life in forests of the region 40 million years ago. It is a fossilized resin, which gives off succinic acid when heated by body warmth and this is believed to give it anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.

This does not constitute medical advice or seek to replace medical attention.

The beads are individually knotted onto German beading silk, so if the necklace breaks, you lose only one!

Amber is a natural product so there will be variations in colour and size.

Unless you have chosen a custom/shorter necklace, all new stock is being made 12/12.5 inches long.

Please ensure safety by supervising children wearing necklaces at all times. Buy one short enough that your child cannot chew, and remove for bathing and naps. Amber is harvested from the sea, but bath bubbles, soap and swimming pool water will damage it, and any water will weaken the silk.
