'Wonderful collection of incredible artists. Great archive expertly curated.' (Recent review.)
Genuine 1900-1970 Lithographs, Engravings & Prints. Search via menu or by artist's name/type. All prints beautifully presented in biodegradable cello bag backed by 250gsm recycled card and sent in cardboard reinforced DO NOT BEND envelopes. (Larger prints in cardboard tubes).
We are most excited by illustrators and printmakers working between 1900-1970, with a soft spot for theatre-related items, cats, and artists inspired by the English countryside and sea. All prints are accurately described in terms of date and source. Our prints are NOT modern reproductions or copies unless otherwise stated. We also sell a limited number of signed modern Giclee prints, competitively priced digital prints and other miscellaneous items. Prints are sourced from many countries and new stock arrives all the time-if only one copy is shown, this does not always mean that we do not have another available. If you see one piece by an artist, it is likely that we have several more by the same person. Ask if you do not see...
We do not have a blog but you can read our posts on Instagram: @johnmintonandmore.
The easily remembered web address JOHNMINTON.CO.UK will always take you straight to our Etsy listings.
Below is an interesting article by John Anderson, auctioneer at Newcastle auction house Anderson and Garland. We set out in our descriptions to identify clearly for buyers both the factors set out in the final paragraph:
'The process of creating fine art prints is not widely recognised by the public and there are many misconceptions behind what constitutes a valuable print. Printmakers are actually highly skilled technicians who can use a variety of methods to create unique, valuable works of art. The distinction is important to understand: original prints are created when an artist comes to printmaking as a form of artistic expression, using techniques like etching, woodcutting, linocuts, etc – as opposed to reproductions, where for example a photograph of a painting simulates the original work of art. Prints can in fact be very valuable, especially those by renowned artists, rare prints or old prints in good condition.
Prints are a bit of a minefield when it comes to the value, which is often based on the production process and the artist’s involvement in the creation of the print.'
At JOHNMINTON.CO.UK, we aim to give you as much information as possible about the prints we sell. Feel free to ask any questions and we will endeavour to give you as full and straightforward an answer as we are able.

4 out of 5 starsThis really is tiny so I was a little disappointed but totally my fault for not checking the dimensions. Can’t wait to get it framed. Thank you.

4 out of 5 starsNot quite sure how this was advertised as only one in stock which I bought and now there is another one with the same description but the one I have is very good. I let and editioned print of this slip through my fingers so I am very pleased to own it.

This is a great print from the original block, at a fraction of the price of an editioned copy. We source prints from all over the world. This is one of our favourites, so we buy whenever we see it for sale!

My family were in the print trade from the 1920s to the 1970s. I grew up to the sound of printing machines, smell of ink and sight of compositors setting blocks & type by hand. I have been selling books, engravings and lithographs online since 2004.
