Organic and tactile ceramics made entirely by hand for the home and garden.
I have always felt deeply connected to the natural environment around me and this influences my work greatly. I collect and use wildflowers and grasses, seed heads and leaves as well as fossils to impress into the clay. My work is organic and tactile, reflecting my upbringing and interests and connecting me to my surrounding environment in the Lincolnshire Wolds where we live. I prefer to use textured stoneware and natural, complementary glazes to reflect the earthly beauty around us. I am fascinated by ancient and medieval history and can't resist a good wander around an early church, castle or stone circle.
One of my aims is to recycle wherever possible and I really love the effect of a piece of gin bottle or stained glass from a broken church window in my 'rock pool' dishes and bowls, reminiscent of wonderful childhood holidays in dramatic, romantic Cornwall.
All items are tastefully wrapped in layers of tissue paper. Wherever possible, I use environmentally friendly packaging such as cardboard and compostable starch peanuts and I only use bubble wrap to recycle and avoid it ending up in our land or sea.
Almost all listings in my shop are available and ready to post out but I also welcome commissions, which can take three to six weeks, for that something special. If you are local to Cleethorpes, you can avoid postal charges by arranging to 'click and collect' from Arttopia, 9 Grant St, Cleethorpes - just message me.

Childhood memories
As children, my sister and I were surrounded by art and inspiration and always doing creative activities with our mum. We made collages, paintings, dressing up clothes and gifts and mum was always entering us in all types of competitions - between us we won Plasticine and Buitoni Pasta designs and wore the T-Shirts to prove it! I attended art college and later, with my artist husband, we passed the passion and skills on to our own children. Although I have a wide interest in crafts, particularly macrame and felting, I now like nothing better than wedging clay and creating something with it.

I am hugely inspired by the flora and fauna around me and have a deep fascination with ancient and medieval history and culture. I have found I can channel these interests through using clay and natural materials, often making impressions with wildflowers and grasses, seed heads and leaves. My work is usually made using textured stoneware and decorated with natural oxides to retain a connection with ancient history and to instill a sense of the organic and tactile.
Recycling is important to me and I love recycling glass in my pottery, making shallow 'rock pool' bowls, reminiscent of many childhood holidays taken at Prussia Cove, a notorious cove in Cornwall used by smugglers in the 18th century. The blues and greens swirl together to make deep pools of crackled glass with the smoothest surface.
I hope you enjoy browsing.

Payment
If you do not have a Paypal account, please click the Paypal button when you go through the checkout and look for the link to pay with your credit card. On the lower left there is a small link that says 'pay by credit card'.
Please note I cannot be held responsible for any delays or taxes charged when posting outside the UK.
Delivery
Where possible I recycle packaging to help the environment and to keep your postage and packaging costs minimal. I have recently invested in a paper shredder to use for packaging in an effort to reduce plastic pollution but I will recycle any bubble wrap I receive and hope you do to.
All orders are dispatched within 3 days via Royal Mail by First Class to the UK and are carefully packaged.
Delivery to anywhere other than the UK is by standard post to keep costs down. I always obtain proof of posting.
Additional policies and FAQs
Custom designs are most welcome. Most items will take around three to four weeks to produce due to the sculpting, drying, twice firing and glazing processes. Please contact me with your requests.
