About

Art inspired by food, feelings and the magic of everyday life

Food as a subject for art has always held a special fascination for me. So many of my own memories feature particular foods and meals, and the feelings, stories and associations they evoke are often quite powerful. Food can beautifully showcase the diversity of cultures and histories, while simultaneously speaking to one of the fundamental commonalities of being human, or indeed of being a living creature - we all need to eat. To me, it seems as though there is something almost magical about taking a moment to notice the beauty and transcendence embedded in something as ordinary as food.

While my work is intensely personal, it’s my hope that it’s also approachable since we all have favorite foods and cherished objects. Whenever I’m painting, I try to capture not just what I see, but what I feel as well. Each of my pieces is created layer-by-layer using a variety of media and multiple techniques. Both originals and prints are made, hand-signed and lovingly-packaged by me in my studio. Selecting my own materials and packaging, and maintaining that personal, physical connection to the work as it goes out into the world is super important to me.

My bright little studio is located at my home in Quincy, Massachusetts (just south of Boston next to the ocean). Here I spend my days making art, listening to audiobooks and drinking coffee.

Frequently asked questions

Shipping & Packaging

I ship weekly on Fridays.

Orders placed by Wednesday, 7pm EST will ship Friday, that same week (i.e. 2 days later). Orders placed after Wednesday, 7pm EST will ship the following Friday.

All orders ship flat, and are packaged in acid-free, protective cello sleeves, cardboard backing and sturdy rigid mailers. There is no additional shipping charge for purchasing more than one item. In order to reduce waste, orders with multiple prints will be packaged in the same cello sleeve, with protective paper between each print. If you need individual cello sleeves, please leave me a note at checkout.

Likewise, if your item is a gift let me know at checkout and I’ll be happy to include a complimentary hand-written note.

Care instructions

Prints are created and packaged using acid-free, archival materials. As with all artwork, direct sunlight should be avoided to protect the work from fading. When handling the work, try to hold it by the edges of paper to minimize any transfer of oil from your fingers. If using tape to mount to a mat, use of an acid-free artist's tape is recommended.

Originals

A limited selection of original works are available on my website: www.kendyllhillegas.com/originals.

Returns

Due to the delicate nature of original works and art prints, I generally do not accept returns. However, if you receive your package and are not happy with it, please contact me and we will find a solution.

In the very sad event of shipping damage, please contact me directly via Etsy ASAP to arrange a refund or replacement of the damaged item. You will be asked to provide photos of the damage for insurance purposes before a refund is issued, so please don't throw the piece or the packaging away!
