Unique stylised Football Gifts & Art illustrated by Matt Cockayne. The original artist to create the concept of the personalised football match art.

For a lad whose art teacher said he wasn’t good enough, Matt Cockayne isn’t doing too badly.
With a growing reputation for producing personalised football art, in particular his signature "Dad & lad" series.

Matt takes inspiration from the fans, stadium, kits and ingrains it in his work.

“I remember looking for some football artwork to hang in my own house and I couldn’t find anything I liked. There was nowt that reflected me and my passions for the game so I decided to create my own. That was that - my new future was born. ”

BACKGROUND

Back in 2013 I was a graphic designer having worked in the print and design trade since leaving school in 2000 and gaining a lot of skills in print finished, printing and graphic design from various positions within the industry I started drawing illustrations of my home city "Sheffield" which the people of the Steel City took a liking to and started to buy my art.

The feeling I got when I got my first online order was amazing as far as i'm concerned your not a professional artist until you have sold an artwork so I was "right i'm an artist now not a graphic designer" and I need to push on with this and change my career.

I became quite prolific and drew hundreds of sketches and developed a few series of works based on the city I grew up in.

Living in an age where you can instantly promote your art for the world to see has benefited myself hugely as if it wasn't for platforms such as Facebook and Twitter I would not be an artist today, but because of this fantastic tool we have to reach out to people they sore my art and they liked it, they liked it so much in 2013 I quite my job to pursue my new dream of being a independent artist, I don't want a manager or a rep I want to this myself and have the freedom to create and express my inner ability to draw so I created my business Goo Design.

6 years on and Goo has grown rapidly taking over 7000 orders online and creating one of the largest art collections in Sheffield, as well as taking part in numerous art events for charity helping to raise near enough 1million pounds and most recently hosting my own Art Charity event "Bangers and Cash" which was a art exhibition banger rally event from Sheffield to Monte Carlo which involved 22 cars painted by local artist "mine being sponsored by my team Sheffield Wednesday".

We took the cars on the trip of a lifetime over Europe and auctioned the painted bonnets off at a charity auction in October 2018 and raised over £150000 for South Yorkshires local youth homeless prevention charity "Roundabout" something I am very proud of.

Football

I love football, always have done, i'm 35 and was spoilt as a kid with the start up of the premier league and witnessing the evolution of the game as we know it, I regard the 90's as the greatest time to have watched the beautiful game.

I am a long suffering Owl, I love my team it's a love - hate relationship! I grew up watching Hirst and Waddle and then witnessed the demise and it broke us all, still hurts now but it is one thing football fans have in common this feeling at some point you will feel it, look at Manchester United for instance.

That one thing we have in common is also the reason I decided to start drawing football art because everyone loves their club and everyone wants to be a part of it...

With a personalised footy art hung on your wall you can relive your match day memories everyday.
