I've been working on lighting ships since 2013 when FFG released the CR-90 Tantive IV expansion. I do it as a hobby on my downtime, so while a specific ship may take 3-10 hours of work, it might take me anywhere from 2-6 weeks to complete.

Frequently asked questions

What color can lights are there?

Large LEDs come in a wide variety of colors - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink, purple, bright white, and warm white. The small LEDs, such as those used on an X wing, have a more limited selection of red, yellow, green, blue, and bright white.

How do I recharge the ships?

Ships with internal batteries all run off of a drone battery. As such, I highly recommend using a drone recharging station to recharge your ships. I personally use this one: https://www.amazon.com/Holy-Stone-Current-Battery-Charger/dp/B00QHUONLE/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1496773702&sr=8-2&keywords=holy+stone+charger

I'm interested in a ship that you don't have listed. Do you take custom orders?

Yes! While I have listed all of the ships that I have previously illuminated, I'm capable of working on any of them. Most of my listings have originated from customer requests.

Your work is great! Any advice on how to get started doing this myself?

I've written a few articles on my facebook page, facebook.com/LEDHangar regarding tools needed and the various steps of the process to take. Have a look there and let me know if you still have more questions.

Any way for me to see any work in progress pictures?

If you're interested in the progress of your specific ship, please let me know when you purchase it, and I'll send you updates after every session that I work on it. If you're looking for previous projects, I post WIP pictures live on my Instagram, https://www.instagram.com/ledhangar/ and I post all of the pictures associated with a project onto my facebook www.facebook.com/ledhangar when the project is done.

Can you paint the ships too?

Unfortunately, I'm not a particularly good painter. I would recommend looking elsewhere for painting services. However, I would also recommend having the lighting work done first. There is always a concern for breaking the model opening it up. If it is a new ship, I can just purchase another one, but a repainted ship needs to be repaired. If you plan on painting it, please let me know, as I will leave the fiber optic cables slightly longer, so you can snip them after painting for a crisp appearance.
