About LampworkJewels

Sales 499
On Etsy since 2009

It's all about the glass!

I became smitten with beads back in 1997 after wandering into the bead shop in London's Covent Garden. Lured by the colours and sparkle I was mesmerised and began a love affair that continues to this day. I collected, admired, made jewelry, wove seed bead amulets and generally played with my ever growing collection of pretties for a few years, I even sold some of my beaded jewelry to friends and family.

Then in 2002 I came across handmade artisan lampwork beads that were so different from the generic lampwork I was familiar with from the bead shops. I was fascinated, I needed to do this. It took me a while, searching and researching. Lampworking had kept it's secrets for generations on Murano, Italy and it was early days for the internet as well as beadmaking.

My tenacity paid off though and I found not only a teacher in the UK but a whole society dedicated to lampworking, GBUK - Glass Beadmakers UK. I booked my first class and I was in heaven, it was way too much fun! I have taken many classes in beadmaking and jewelry and spent thousands of hours practising at the torch since then but the initial spark is still burning brightly and I'm still having too much fun.

In recent years I have been focussing on learning to work with sterling silver so that I can make jewellery with my glass beads. I have taken many classes and I was lucky enough to take a workshop with the legendary jeweller Jinks McGrath in her beautiful home workshop. Since then I have been working hard to combine my lampwork glass and silversmithing skills to make unique pieces of art glass jewellery that are a joy to wear.

Photographs

Please check the measurements carefully before ordering. Photographs show pieces magnified and larger than their actual size, which can make it hard to determine their size.
It also magnifies the smallest details which, in real life, may not be as obvious to the naked eye.

While I make every effort to photograph colours accurately all screens vary on how they interpret colour. Please understand there may be some variation between what you see on your screen and what you see in real life.
