About

Fun and creative stationery, paper bunting, posters and custom portraits.

Hello, I'm Katy creator of Leo and Bib.

You may be wondering why there's only one of me when there's two names in the shop title!

When Leo and Bib was first created back in 2013, I mainly drew two little characters, a little boy Leo and his friend Bib. The names are a play on the word bibliophile, as my work involves using old book pages and typography. We are also a huge book loving house so it seemed fitting to name my little business something wordy.

The idea of using book paper came one afternoon, around the kitchen table, crafting with my three children.
It took just one simple moment of watching my eldest son drawing and bring to life two little dancing characters all with a pen, old book paper and some imagination, that an idea was born. If I hadn’t stopped and appreciated that wonderful moment, I would never have been inspired and Leo and Bib would never have happened. Well that and a lot of hard work and having an incredibly supportive and encouraging husband and family.

From just one moment I get to work every single day where I want to be, doing something I love doing, and being able to share life’s quirks, details and pleasures with other people too. My work is all about creating something just a bit different, a love of words and hoping to make people stop and smile.

MY DESIGN PROCESS

All my designs are made by hand using old paper. I use anything from book paper to packaging to stamps and after years of sourcing material I have quite a varied and interesting collection to work from. Actually I'm forever on the look out for new material so my collection grows daily. You never know what you'll find next at a thrift shop or what others are throwing away. There's always an opportunity to find something interesting and quirky to make a picture with.

My style is illustrated collage, so this means I draw and cut out each part and then collage the pieces together to make the design all by hand.

To make the prints I scan the handmade design into Photoshop, clean them up just a little and print them off.

I love adding text to my collages, as it gives another layer of interest and history to the picture. I like to play around with words too and sometimes add hidden meaning within the text I use. Don't worry it's always appropriate and considerate to my audience!

I love making collages and being commissioned to make something personal for someone is even more rewarding. I love what I do and hope you do too.

If you have any questions regarding my process or just would like a chat please do get in touch and I will be happy to help you.

For more behind the scenes antics and to get to know me a bit better please do follow me on Facebook or Instagram. We have lively fun discussions there and even more importantly I can get your thoughts and opinions on new ideas and designs. I love getting people's feedback, it's makes for a more interesting world.

Are custom duties included in the product and delivery price?

The price I charge includes the product price + international postal service price. It does not include duty charges.

You, as the international buyer are ultimately responsible for paying any duty owed on an import.

Within the US determining duty can be very complicated and only CBP can make a final determination about what is owed. Therefore I am unable to predict any duty owed. However for most of the goods I sell (which are paper and under $100) normally pass through customs easily and without duty charges.

If any duty is owed, CBP will charge a processing fee for clearing the package. Duty and the processing fee are due at the local post office of the Buyer, where the package has been forwarded.

How are my purchases mailed to the US?

I send smaller items such as bunting and unframed prints and commissions through the Royal Mail, international standard.

Once it enters the US it arrives at a United States Postal Service (USPS) Sorting Facility. The Postal Service then sends packages to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) for examination and to assess duties and taxes, if any is owed.

To speed a package through CBP examination at a port's International Mail Branch, I affix a completed CN 22 (U.S. Customs and Border Protection Declaration Form) to the outside of the package.
