Very cute, very well thought out design and easy to use pattern. I made the 6-12 size for my 21 month old, as he's a bit smaller than average, and he loves them! He's very good at using the potty as long as he isn't wearing a diaper (or anything that feels like a diaper), and his "peekaboo pants" do the trick while keeping the draft off. I used some secondhand cotton knit of unknown stretch content (likely none), so I made a variation with an elastic waistband in case the waist on the originals gives out. Really convenient on a serger - using a few different settings / cutting or non cutting / differential feed etc you can do the whole thing without a straight stitch. A tip to other users of mystery fabrics - calculate the stretch percentage and make sure your cuffs/waistband will fit BEFORE cutting 🤦♀️

Lovely product. It is so lush and thick. Feels like great quality. I feel very happy knowing our precious little baby is sleeping on something so natural. Thanks

Really happy with the bundle I purchased. The velcro on the diaper belt makes it super easy to use on my 7 month old (rather than the pull-up ones we've used in the past), and the split-crotch pants fit him well now with plenty of room to grow. We used the large pad for the first time last night, fortunately, because he had a rare accident. The pad worked perfectly -- flat cloth on top absorbed the liquid, no leaking through, hanging to dry the rest and no odor. Couldn't be happier!

This wool pad has been a life saver in my house and I absolutely love it. The quality is amazing and it works wonder as a mattress protector. My daughter has had several accidents and the mattress stayed completely dry thanks to this puddle pad. I use it with some small cotton absorbent pad (or a towel) under the bed sheet and it works perfectly at keeping the mattress dry. I just relanolized the wool puddle pad for extra protection (the instructions on how to do a lanolizing spray are on the website of this wonderful small business) and voilà! 😉 I will definitely consider buying another one for my youngest daughter when it’s time for her to move to a big bed. It also shipped faster than I expected. Wonderful product.
Elimination Communication Clothing, EC and philosophy
When you are practising Elimination Communication, clothing is an important consideration and there are definitely things you can do which help or don't help.
Nappy / diaper free time with your baby is the best way for parent and baby to learn, and work towards nappy independence. Of course, nappies have their place when you are not able to give EC your full attention, but learning slows down when there is a barrier between your baby’s eliminations and your awareness. Even in training pants or regular clothing, you won’t know what’s happening. You may also worry about how to maintain your child’s dignity and avoid exposing them. That’s where clothing and accessories that are specially designed to support your EC practice can really increase your confidence and speed up the learning process.
Little Bunny Bear's wool puddle pads, mattress protectors and split crotch baby trousers can help you learn your babys cues without the worry of letting your little one get cold or spoliling the carpet.

About Little Bunny Bear's products:
> Open-crotch baby tights or trousers allow you to respond immediately and your baby will have the sensation of being nappy-free during eliminations. You will be able to cue them with your chosen sound at the right moment, and because you will know the exact moment they go, you will be able to catch most if not all of it in a potty or receptacle; reducing waste and washing. For part-time pottying, open crotch baby tights can even be worn with a nappy!
> Discrete Split crotch trousers provide extra coverage to protect your baby’s modesty. They can be used from stage 1 but are particularly useful as your child starts to crawl or walk to the potty to sit independently. When baby crouches or is held in the pottying position, the crotch will open up allowing you to potty without undressing.
> Wool puddle mats / mattress protectors
Designed to soak up those misses and save you washing. Due to wool's amazing antibacterial and wicking properties, it doesn't need to be washed after every miss. The wool will either soak up the liquid like a sponge, or repel the liquid and make a "puddle" which can be tipped off into the toilet/potty. Lie baby on it anywhere, or use under bed sheets to protect mattress.
Items sizes are based on the 50th centile (average weight and height). Therefore, you can order clothes according to the size your baby currently fits. Remember though, that they are designed to be worn nappy free – so the waistbands are smaller than regular clothes (but with plenty of growth/stretch room). If your baby is large or small for his or her age, you may wish to size up or down, or contact me for a custom order.

Frequently asked questions
All about puddle pads
Q: Are puddle pads pre-lanolised?
A: No. See below for more details on lanolin, and why you should lanolise you pad.
Q: Which size puddle pad is best for me?
A: The puddle pad only needs to cover the area where the baby might wet, therefore they dont need to be the size of the whole mattress. Smaller pads can be used in slings and in seats, or as changing mats. Larger pads can also be used as play mats, baby massage or yoga mats. I do make custom size pads but see the other FAQ below about custom sizes .
Q: Should I buy single or double layer?
A: REPURPOSED WOOL: single layer (large or small) are usually best for younger babies, or for use as a mattress protector under the bedsheet, unless stated in the listing - some single layer pads are good for all ages if they are really thick (the listing will tell you). Double layer pads are best for older children or babies who have larger urine output, since the two layers give the best protection against liquids.
ORANANIC WOOL: suitable as a single layer for all ages.
If in doubt, just check the product listing or convo me.
Q. Organic or repurposed wool puddle pad?
A: Organic puddle pads are super soft and can be used directly against babies skin. This makes them the best option for situations where you want to lie your baby directly on the pad without a cover sheet, such as when you are using the pad for nappy free time, as a play mat, changing pad or in bed for night time EC and breastfeeding. They are also best for use in a sling or seat beacuse they are so soft.
Repurposed wool can be irritating to the skin for some people - it depends how sensitive you are - but I recommend that for use in a bed they be placed underneat the bed sheet. This will protect your mattress. Some repurposed pads are very soft, and if they can be used against the skin it will say this in the listing itself.
Q: How do I wash a Little Bunny Bear Wool Puddle pad?
A: All the wool pads in my shop (organic and repurposed) can be washed in the washing machine on a wool cycle, or by hand. A gentle wool detergent is recommended and washing below 40 degrees is important to avoid shrinkage.
Remember, you will only need to wash it if it is soiled or once it starts to smell - since wools natural properties will mean it can go through several wettings without needing a wash.
Q. Which brand of lanolin do you recommend?
A. I love Sheepish Grins Lanolin which you can buy for around £12. Solid lanolin also has the advantage of being non-diluted in other fats, so you get more for your money. Liquid lanolin, I like Disana.
But there are plenty of brands available and as long as they are 100% lanolin it will work fine.
Q. Do I have to lanolise my pad?
A. No, but doing so will help it work to its best. Lanolin (originally on the sheep) is nature's way of waterproofing wool and will really help keep your item leak-proof and fresh-smelling. In small amounts it will moisturize and soften wool, in bigger amounts it will repel water. It will mean you do not need to wash it after each wetting, which will save you time and money.
Can you make larger/custom-sized puddle pad eg single , double or king size ?
Yes I can BUT I only recommend sizing up to 100x100cm. Larger pads can be costly, are more cumbersome to change , wash and lanolise , and you only really need them under where your child sleeps . If they roll around a lot , a few strategically placed pads will work and save you time, effort and cost. Alternatively , I also recommend buying 1-2 smaller pads and placing them side by side under where your child sleeps.
