Unique artwork inspired by the Devon landscape

My name is Helen Little, and when I'm not doing my day-job, I spend my time creating Zentangle-inspired artwork and being a mum to two boys! I live close to the East Devon pebblebed heathland, the Jurassic Coast and Dartmoor, and I love to explore this wonderful countryside.

Since learning about the Zentangle method in 2017 I've spent as much time as possible creating art using the wonderful patterns created by the founders and the amazing community of 'tanglers' around the world. My husband is a landscape photographer, and some time ago he suggested I create 'tangled' landscapes inspired by his photographs - after the first one, I was hooked! You can see his work at https://www.brucelittle.net
If you’d like to learn more about Zentangle, the official website https://www.zentangle.com is a great place to start.

More recently I have started using alcohol inks to create abstract and semi-abstract artwork. I find this fascinating medium requires a totally different approach to the Zentangle method. When drawing Zentangle patterns, a great degree of control and concentration is beneficial - by allowing the mind to focus entirely on drawing repetitive lines, one penstroke at a time, a state of calmness is achieved. Alcohol inks are incredibly fluid and notoriously difficult to control – they usually have a mind of their own, so the outcome is often totally unpredictable – but that’s the fun!
There are a wealth of resources on the Alcohol Ink Community website https://alcoholink.community/
